Jakarta – The government continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving public welfare by increasing the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) from IDR 71 trillion to IDR 171 trillion in 2025.
This policy reflects the government’s strong determination to ensure that Indonesia’s future generation grows up healthy and of high quality and to reduce the rate of malnutrition and stunting which are still national challenges.
The Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized that this budget increase is a visionary step in human resource development.
“Investment in nutrition is an investment in the future of the nation. With this program, we ensure that every Indonesian child gets proper nutritional intake, which will ultimately improve the quality of life and competitiveness of the nation,” she said.
She added that this policy not only focuses on providing nutritious food, but also on increasing public awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and the sustainability of long-term programs.
Budget management, she continued, will be carried out transparently and accountably so that its benefits are felt optimally. The funds allocated will be used efficiently by involving various stakeholders to ensure that the program runs optimally.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy emphasized that this program is a real step in accelerating the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia.
“The government is working hard to ensure that this program runs effectively, targets the groups most in need, and contributes to building a healthy and superior generation of Indonesia,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local governments, the private sector, and the community in supporting the sustainability of this program. With this budget increase, the program’s reach is expanded to more schools, integrated health posts, and disadvantaged areas so that no child is left behind from access to good nutrition. The government is also collaborating with various parties, including schools and health institutions, to ensure that the distribution of nutritious food is carried out optimally.
