Jakarta – The government is targeting the expansion of electricity access to 10,068 villages and hamlets that have not yet been electrified through the Village Electricity Program (Lisdes) for the 2025–2029 period.
This program is part of the 2025–2034 PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) which was recently announced by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
This strategic program will reach around 780 thousand households throughout Indonesia.
This effort also includes the construction of power plants with a total capacity of 394 megawatts (MW).
The government targets that all citizens can enjoy reliable electricity services 24 hours a day.
“The task for the next five years through the 2025–2029 Lisdes Program is to inventory and create breakthrough programs to provide electricity access to villages that have not yet been electrified,” said Minister Bahlil at the launch of the RUPTL in Jakarta.
According to Bahlil, electricity is not only a basic need, but also a symbol of equitable national development that must be felt by all people from Sabang to Merauke. He added that the realization of this program will require an investment of around Rp50 trillion and open up opportunities for private sector involvement in providing electricity infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT PLN (Persero), Darmawan Prasodjo, ensured his company’s readiness to support the success of the Lisdes Program.
He emphasized that providing electricity is PLN’s main mandate as a state-owned company assigned by the government.
“As an extension of the government in providing electricity, we are fully committed to ensuring the success of the Lisdes Program. This is a real manifestation of the state’s presence in ensuring energy justice for all Indonesian people,” said Darmawan.
By the end of 2024, PLN has electrified more than 83,000 villages and sub-districts throughout Indonesia. However, there are still thousands of points that have not enjoyed electricity evenly.
Appreciation for the government and PLN’s steps also came from the regions. North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda said that Lisdes had brought great changes to the people in the island region.
“The Lisdes program is very important to create equitable development in our archipelago. We hope that with access to electricity, the community can develop, especially in the economic and education sectors,” he said.
With a strong commitment from the center to the regions, the government hopes that the national electrification target can be achieved in order to realize comprehensive social justice.
