Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) recently named a new suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the management of the MBG program. The suspect is the Deputy Secretary for Promotion and Cooperation at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), who is also an active police officer.
The Attorney General’s Office also revealed the alleged involvement of an active-duty TNI officer in the investigation into the alleged corruption case surrounding the Free Nutritional Meal Program within the National Civil Service Agency (BGN). The officer served as Secretary to the Deputy for Provision and Distribution at BGN.
Responding to this, the Head of the Indonesian Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, emphasized that the Attorney General’s Office was given full freedom by President Prabowo Subianto to thoroughly investigate the scandal that was undermining the national priority program.
“As the President said, the law is now enforced without discrimination, regardless of background,” said Qodari after opening an inter-media competition in Jakarta some time ago.
He assured that legal action would not be lenient, even if faced with the shield of vertical institutions like law enforcement and the military. He stated that law enforcement is not based on a person’s professional background, but rather on alleged acts committed while on duty.
“So, it’s not because of his police background, not because of his non-police background, but because of the problems that occurred while he was assigned to the place where the case occurred, namely the National Civil Service Agency,” he stressed.
Previously, the Attorney General’s Office successfully uncovered the role of active-duty TNI officers in alleged tender manipulation. Meanwhile, active-duty Polri members were detained for alleged extortion of a monopoly on food trays from prospective partners of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
The Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, said that the alleged involvement of active TNI officers was discovered based on the results of the investigation being developed by investigators at the Attorney General’s Office.
“Based on the development of the corruption investigation into the management of the Free Nutritious Meal Program, we discovered the involvement of active TNI personnel,” said Syarief at the Attorney General’s Office Round Building, Jakarta.
The Attorney General’s Office also emphasized that the investigation into alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritional Meal Program is ongoing. Investigators ensure that all parties suspected of involvement will be prosecuted according to applicable legal mechanisms, including through the prosecution process if active-duty TNI personnel are involved.
