Bali – The holding of the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Indonesia is expected to have a big impact on this country, as stated by Dr. KG Dharma Putra, Lecturer in Environmental Chemistry, FMIPA, Udayana University.
According to him, Indonesia has a valuable opportunity to show success in preparing water infrastructure which has been carried out massively by the government in the last few decades.
“By hosting the World Water Forum, Indonesia can show the international world its various achievements in water management. “This is an important moment to ask for support and share water management technologies that have been successfully implemented in various places in the world,” said Dr. Dharma Putra.
The appointment of Indonesia as the host of the 10th WWF was also able to increase the optimism and confidence of the Indonesian people in the successful implementation of development policies in Indonesia.
“Indonesia’s leadership in this forum will strengthen public confidence in the effectiveness of government policies. “Apart from that, this is also an opportunity to show that Indonesia is capable of leading activities that are beneficial for saving the world’s water,” he added.
The implementation of this forum in Bali brings its own benefits to the region and the Balinese people. With local wisdom values such as the Subak system, Bali will become increasingly known internationally.
“Hopefully what is being done in Bali can inspire the international community to maintain the sustainability of water, which is an essential substance for human life,” said Dr. Dharma Putra.
It is hoped that the tenth World Water Forum will encourage global collaboration in the application of sustainable water management technology and policies, as well as increase awareness of the importance of water conservation. Bali, as the host of the 10th WWF, is expected to be an example of how local wisdom can play a role in global solutions.
