Papuan separatism is still a complicated and unresolved problem in the land of Papua, a number of approaches and strategies are still being carried out in order to realize a peaceful Papua. However, the existence of the Terrorist Separatist Group (KST) apparently adds to the list of problems in Papua, so that KST must be crushed immediately in order to create development in Papua.
KST has acted by spreading terror and actions that cannot be forgiven. A few days ago, KST killed a motorcycle taxi driver named Damri in Puncak, Central Papua. The victim died from gunshot wounds and stab wounds to the body. The incident occurred when the victim finished lunch and was about to look for passengers around the Ilaga-Gome District area.Even during the evacuation process there was gunfire between members of the TNI-Polri and the separatist group.
In a different place at almost the same time, a TNI member named Serja Jeky was also declared dead after receiving a stab from an unknown person at Sinak Market, Puncak Jaya Regency.
In addition, the separatist group also shot Bank BPD employees to death. This apparently shows that KST seems to be showing its existence by doing things that are not needed.
This act Puncak Regent Willem Wandik. He has asked the public, including the National Police and the TNI, to always be vigilant. Then to civilians, especially those who work as motorbike taxi drivers, not to cross locations that are considered vulnerable. It should be noted that a number of cases of attacks carried out by separatist groups often involved motorcycle taxi drivers as the party being attacked.
This gave rise to a stereotype that motorcycle taxi drivers are part of the security forces that are inherent in the separatist group.
Meanwhile , Inspector General Mathius D Fahiri as the Head of the Papua Regional Police has given instructions to his personnel to take firm action against the perpetrators of the attack. He also promised to provide compensation to the families left behind.
In addition , the latest incident on 7 February 2023 was no less heinous, in which a separatist group led by Egianus Kogoya set fire to a Susi Air plane at the Nduga District airfield, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains. After the arson, Pilot Susi Air was taken hostage by a group somewhere.
The Egianus Kogoya group
A number of studies have so far been carried out in the context of eradicating separatist groups in Papua. Based on the attacks that occurred during 2022, there were 53 fatalities from civilians and TNI-Polri officials who were victims of the atrocities of the separatist group.
Not only in the peak region, but cruel acts from KST like what happened in the Bintang Mountains are definitely not fake stories. One of the proofs is KST’s attack on health/medical workers, even though medical workers should not be attacked.
It was recorded that KST framed a nurse, then tortured, raped and killed her. Then his body was thrown into the ravine. Six months later, following the attack by a separatist group on the East Palapa Telematics tower workers. Where as many as 8 workers were shot dead in Puncak Regency.
Of course, the actions
In this case, of course, the central government must be smart in exploring and utilizing historical and social capital, as well as local policies by intensifying campaigns through advances in information technology to reveal the various development results that have been achieved.
The central government holistic approach so that non-violent conflict resolution is effectively introduced to eliminate separatist movements by addressing the root of the problem, namely the marginalization of the Orang Asli Papua (OAP).
The existence of KST in Papua with all its heinous actions so far has certainly created endless fear for local residents. It is not wrong for Papuans to become inflamed and express their jealousy towards their countrymen and fellow countrymen in other areas who are allowed to enjoy the dynamics of normal life without fear from the sudden attack from KST.
If all this time KST has stated that they are fighting to release Papua from the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, this action only makes people afraid, in fact civilians have become victims of violence and shootings by members of KST.
KST often hides behind human rights when the security forces carry out their duties, but in reality KST also has weapons that are often used to threaten the innocent Papuan people.
KST is a group of people who like to destroy public facilities and like to spread terror. They can’t see the development built by the government.
