Indonesia Helps More People Access Drinking Water Through WWF

BALI — Indonesia’s strong commitment as host of the world-class water forum to help more people gain access to drinking water through the 10th WWF.

Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono explained a number of achievements that were successfully realized at the 2024 World Water Forum.

He explained that there were a list of 113 projects worth up to 9.4 billion USD which were also the mainstay of various countries in the world.

Some of these projects include efforts to accelerate the provision of drinking water for as many as 3 million households and also domestic wastewater treatment for 300 thousand households.

“Including projects to accelerate the provision of drinking water for three million households and domestic wastewater treatment projects for 300,000 households,” said Basuki.

Not only that, but another achievement in the 10th WWF event was the existence of a ministerial level declaration as a concrete manifestation of Indonesia’s diplomatic victory in the world water issue.

According to Minister Basuki, the WWF event this time is different from before, because now there is a summit and also a ministerial declaration.

“Usually there isn’t that, once the forum is opened it goes straight to thematics, but we held a summit which was opened by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), including the first time a ministerial declaration was ratified,” he explained.

Of course, the existence of these various projects will bring many positive benefits, not only to Indonesia, but also to the world community.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of BUMN through the BUMN Holding, namely PT Danareksa (Persero) also signed work to form a consortium to work on the Drinking Water Management System (SPAM) project worth up to IDR 3.75 trillion.

Deputy Minister of BUMN, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, said that to overcome clean water problems, it is important to encourage several steps.

Some of these incentives include infrastructure development, sustainable management of water resources, use of technology and also opening up the potential for collaboration with the private sector.

He also invited all parties to work together to realize a commitment to help provide equal access to clean water.

“Let’s work hard together and be committed to helping realize equal and sustainable access to clean water for all Indonesian people,” said Kartika.
