Bali – Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international collaboration, focusing on improving global prosperity and sustainable economic development through a number of strategic initiatives.
These steps represent important milestones towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Deputy for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), explained that from 2021 to 2022, Indonesia has held various activities, such as training, workshops, seminars, and knowledge sharing events with countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the South Pacific.
“These activities are intended to share experiences in planning and development and strengthen economic relations,” said Amalia.
Indonesia’s active role in South-South and Triangular Cooperation is another example. These initiatives focus on improving welfare and economic research among developing countries.
Indonesia has shown significant progress in the latest Global Report on SDGs released by the United Nations (UN). The country’s ranking rose from 102 in 2019 to 75 in 2023.
Amalia said that 63 percent of SDGs indicators in Indonesia had reached their targets, while 16 percent of other indicators showed significant improvement.
“This strengthens Indonesia’s position as one of the most progressive countries in the upper middle-income group to achieve the SDGs,” Amalia said.
This achievement, he said, proves Indonesia’s commitment to addressing global challenges and achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
“The country has also adopted innovative financing methods, such as blended finance, to support sustainable development projects,” he said.
He also highlighted that the Forum is a platform for global leaders, practitioners and stakeholders to share knowledge, experiences and practical solutions to accelerate development and strengthen the economies of developing countries.
“We want to ensure that high economic growth is also sustainable without sacrificing the environment or social welfare,” Amalia concluded.
With strong commitment and initiative, Indonesia continues to actively strengthen international cooperation and promote sustainable development. HLF MSP 2024 in Bali is expected to be an important event to strengthen global collaboration and achieve common goals in sustainable development.
