Jakarta – Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Alue Dohong, said Indonesia will continue to encourage ASEAN to contribute to facing world climate change.
“ASEAN should be sensitive to the issue of world climate change, for this reason, on the occasion of the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia pushed for an agreement to deal with climate change in the world,” said Alue Dohong.
The issue of climate change or the phenomenon of climate change continues to be a topic that has received attention from various parties. In particular, the increasingly hot temperatures have recently become more pronounced on the skin, encouraging everyone to become more aware of the reality of the real impacts of climate change.
In an effort to increase awareness of climate change, Indonesia, which is currently hosting the ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, continues to encourage technological innovation in the fields of carbon reduction, project funding and climate technology, as well as how the business world can take steps in accordance with Ecosystem principles. Deputy Minister Alue Dohong explained that the climate technology sector has an important role in ensuring the transparency and accuracy of various efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Fairatmos Natalia Rialucky, said that it is very possible for policy makers, innovators, industry experts and other stakeholders to collaborate in encouraging innovation in the climate sector.
“ASEAN is the right place to discuss and find solutions in dealing with climate change,” he said in Jakarta.
Previously, the Indonesia Future of Climate Summit 2023 or IFCS 2023 was also held, which presented a number of experts in various fields of climate technology and sectors that can support the growth of this industry. Apart from the panel session, IFCS 2023 is also a platform for the launch of an innovative report resulting from a collaboration between Fairatmos and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), entitled “Unlocking Nature’s Potential: Southeast Asia’s Role in Combating Climate Change.”
This report reveals the huge opportunities offered by nature-based solutions (NbS) in the Southeast Asia region, with a projected potential supply of carbon offsets of around 30 percent globally by 2030, even though the Southeast Asia region only accounts for less than one percent of total land area of the world.
