JAKARTA – Ahead of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence, optimism regarding the national economy continues to strengthen despite lingering global uncertainty.
Nevertheless, Indonesia is considered capable of maintaining economic stability thanks to strong fundamentals, solid policy coordination, and various strategic government measures aimed at preserving public purchasing power and driving economic growth.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that the Indonesian economy possesses strong resilience in the face of various external pressures.
“The Indonesian economy is resilient amidst global volatility. Our economic fundamentals remain strong, enabling us to withstand various pressures originating from abroad,” he stated.
Purbaya also explained that the government would continue to optimize the role of the State Budget (APBN) as an instrument to maintain economic stability while protecting the public from the impacts of global uncertainty.
He further noted that investor confidence in Indonesia remains high, as reflected by the stability of the financial system and the sustained outlook for national economic growth amidst global pressures.
Fakhrul Fulvian, Chief Economist at Trimegah Sekuritas Indonesia, assessed that controlled inflation in the second half of the year serves as a crucial momentum for maintaining national economic balance.
“Easing inflation in the second half provides a favorable moment to maintain economic balance. This condition allows for more measured policies, enabling economic activity to continue growing healthily,” he said.
Fakhrul added that low inflation would boost consumer confidence to spend and provide certainty for the business sector regarding investment expansion. With household consumption remaining robust and a conducive business climate, Indonesia’s economic growth is expected to remain steady through the end of the year. He noted that the government’s consistency in maintaining price stability is a key factor in sustaining the optimism of business players and investors.
Meanwhile, economist Surya Vandiantara assessed that various indicators point to a continuing positive trend for the Indonesian economy. He cited robust domestic consumption, improving industrial activity, and sustained investment growth as evidence that the national economic fundamentals remain solid. “Indonesia’s economic performance continues to strengthen, based on a number of key indicators. This demonstrates that the national economic foundation remains robust and capable of weathering various global challenges,” he concluded.
