Infrastructure Preparations Ahead of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta

Jakarta – The 43rd ASEAN Summit (Summit) will be held on 5-7 September 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center. President Jokowi is also reviewing the JCC renovation activities which will serve as the location for the 43rd ASEAN Summit.

Jokowi was seen accompanied by a number of officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, and Acting (Acting) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono. Former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Whisnutama, Kapolda Metro Jaya Karyoto, and Pangdam Jaya Major General TNI Mohamad Hasan were also present at the location.

This renovation was carried out by the Ministry of PUPR through the Jakarta Metro Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) as of June 12 2023. The construction period itself is targeted to last 105 days.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said the JCC renovation would be completed and ready for use starting August 2023.

“We think that in preparation for the JCC the use of the spatial layout and rehabilitation schedule is appropriate,” he said

The JCC rehabilitation concept has a main design that has elements that are thick with culture that can reflect the character and identity of the Indonesian nation.

“We added instruments that depict Indonesia’s diversity, for example adding synthetic rattan wraps, padded walls and carpets,” said Diana Kusumastuti as Director General of Human Settlements at the PUPR Ministry.

Not only the JCC Building, the Ministry of PUPR through the DKI Jakarta-West Java National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) since July 31 2023 has also provided support to improve connectivity through road preservation measures in the Gelora Bung Karno area which covers 4.67 km.

As is known, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will chair 12 meetings during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit (ASEAN Summit) in Jakarta on 5-7 September 2023.

Under its leadership, Indonesia is ready to carry out the 43rd ASEAN Summit to increase inclusive regional economic growth.
