Infrastructure Transformation is the Key to Success in the Jokowi Era in One Decade

Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during his 10 year leadership period continues to record various extraordinary performance achievements. One of the keys to President Jokowi’s success is the transformation of infrastructure development in various fields, including education, health, connectivity, food and energy to the development of IKN in Indonesia.

In SAPA Indonesia Evening on Kompas TV, Friday (04/10), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said that in the past 10 years, during the era of President Jokowi’s leadership, infrastructure development has been very massive.

“As presented by several data related to the construction of new toll roads of more than 2,400 km, drinking water installations, electricity, then of the 61 dams that have started operating, namely 53 dams,” explained Susiwijono.

This massive infrastructure development has had a huge impact on economic growth over the past decade. He added that to date there are 205 National Strategic Projects (PSN) that have been completed.

“Regarding accessibility connectivity, there are 11 ports and 50 new airports, 7 new railway projects. “These are all multi-year projects, so in terms of numbers, relatively all of them have been completed and some are still in process.” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding energy security, electricity generation has reached 21.7 Gigawatt. Meanwhile, it is related to industrial downstreaming, especially from strategic areas.

“From the KEK itself, which started in 2014, there are already 22 Special Economic Zones, spread 15 outside Java and this encourages an inclusive economy. In terms of investment, it has pushed Rp. 205.2 trillion,” said Sesmenko.

Sesmenko continued, regarding development in the 3T areas, especially the outermost ones, for example the construction of PLBNs (National Border Posts), there are 15 PLBNs.

“The PLBN, which was built in the past 10 years, has really boosted the economy in border areas,” he said.

President Jokowi was able to build various kinds of solid foundations for a new civilization with development that was Indonesia-centric and no longer Java-centric, namely building from the periphery and outermost areas.

On the same occasion, Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI) Telisa Aulia Falianty said that President Jokowi’s 2 decades of performance deserved the highest appreciation as the Father of Indonesian Infrastructure.

“It takes courage to build infrastructure. “We appreciate Pak Jokowi that he is the father of Indonesian infrastructure because he left an extraordinary legacy,” said Telisa.

According to Telisa, infrastructure development has a quite large multiplier effect.

“Many national strategic priority programs create job opportunities. “Then the government is now also encouraging TKDN so that infrastructure development uses local products.” he explained.

Apart from that, he continued, with good infrastructure capital, Indonesia can develop better education and health.

“Because with a healthier and more educated society, we can grow again,” he said.

So far, Indonesia has experienced a lot of development in the era of President Jokowi’s administration.

Telisa hopes that the next government will continue to develop this infrastructure, where during President Jokowi’s administration, all of society’s basic needs will continue to be supplied and encouraged by improving connectivity.

The transition period of government from President Jokowi to President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is an important momentum to ensure that the successes achieved during the 10 years of Jokowi’s administration can continue in the era of Prabowo’s leadership. [-ed]
