Jakarta – The Prabowo-Gibran administration is considered successful in strengthening the local economy through the integration of two strategic programs: the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes). The synergy between the two has created a more vibrant economic chain in villages, from increased production to the absorption of new workers.
For example, Andi Sri Rahayu Usmi, Chair of the Indonesian Village Observers Association (Apdesi) of South Sulawesi, proposed that the MBG program be managed by the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes Merah Putih). With Kopdes Merah Putih’s management, this priority program of President Prabowo Subianto could create jobs and drive the local economy, particularly at the village level.
“The presence of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes Merah Putih) truly brings prosperity. There are already efforts underway related to the MBG. In my opinion, the MBG should be empowered within the Kopdes to create jobs and, secondly, to absorb the village’s resources,” Rahayu explained.
He explained that the collaboration between MBG and Kopdes is a concrete solution for improving the welfare of village communities, as long as its implementation is adjusted to the potential of local human and natural resources.
“Regarding the Red and White Village Cooperative, the potential of human and natural resources must be harmonized, as business activities that are irrelevant to the village’s potential must not be undertaken,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Jayadi Nas, Head of the South Sulawesi Manpower and Transmigration Agency (Disnakertrans), is optimistic that unemployment in South Sulawesi will decrease this year thanks to the national program. He noted that several programs currently exist that can absorb workers, such as the SPPG (Skilled Workers’ Training Center) or the MBG Kitchen.
“There are 47 SPPG (laborers), and at least five at the Merah Putih Cooperative. That’s an excellent opportunity. With the MBG program, new job openings have emerged, thank God. There’s a supply of raw materials and jobs created,” Jayadi concluded.
