International Relations Expert: Jokowi’s 10 Year Legacy Seen from the Ukrainian and Russian Peace Missions

Jakarta – The 10 year legacy of the President’s reign in the international world has also made a lot of history for Indonesia.

University of Indonesia (UI) International Relations expert Professor Evi Fitriani appreciated President Jokowi’s role on the world stage in the Russian and Ukrainian peace mission.

“When he (Jokowi) went to Ukraine, I was one of those surprised too. The president dared to do that to go to a war zone. “Bringing his wife too, means this could indeed lead to danger,” said Evi in a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday (28/9).

In fact, he said, there are European countries close to Russia and Ukraine that could come to dialogue to end the war. But that didn’t happen and President Jokowi did that.

“I am one of those who appreciate this step, that the President was able to get there and I think there are many people around the world who are amazed. “European leaders can do that because the region is close, while Jokowi is far from Indonesia,” said the Professor of International Relations.

He explained that President Jokowi’s steps were inseparable from Indonesia’s interests as host of the G20 Summit in Indonesia in 2022.

“But the fact that an Indonesian president can go there through war zones is something that is worthy in my opinion, something that is appreciated,” he emphasized.
