ISF 2024 Series Begins, Discussing Technology and Environmental Issues

The International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024 series has begun. The forum, which will take place from 5-6 September 2024, is an agenda that discusses various things related to sustainability, including technology, environmental issues, and waste management.

The International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024 is an important event that brings together stakeholders, academics, entrepreneurs and activists from various parts of the world.

ISF 2024 returns amidst growing awareness of the importance of sustainability. The forum offers many platforms to discuss crucial issues, including technological developments, environmental challenges, and strategic waste management.

The forum discusses pressing issues related to sustainability, especially in relation to technology, the environment, and waste management. The increasingly real climate change and increasingly complex environmental problems make ISF 2024 an important platform for discussion and finding joint solutions.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan emphasized that the implementation of the 2024 International Sustainability Forum resulted in various agreements.

In it, there are 15 thematic discussion sessions and other meetings that discuss how to align economic growth and also build green industries through new and renewable energy sources (EBT).

Not only that, but there are also discussions about technology to the environment from air pollution and waste management. As a real form of commitment to reducing carbon emissions, the invited delegates used electric vehicles in the 2024 ISF event.

Deputy Chairperson for Maritime Affairs, Investment and Foreign Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Shinta W. Kamdani, said that the holding of ISF 2024 further strengthens Indonesia as an actor in a sustainable economy.

Not only that, but the International Sustainability Forum is a place to exchange ideas and learn from the side of implementing best practices related to sustainability and efforts to promote the wealth of the country which actually has many business opportunities by continuing to prioritize the principle of sustainability.

Primarily, the ISF forum highlights five pillars, namely the green economy, energy transition, nature conservation and biodiversity, then there is also a sustainable lifestyle and the marine economy.

Meanwhile, due to the very thorough preparation by the government, the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin, assessed that ISF 2024 would be the second largest event in the Asia Pacific that focuses on climate change solutions.

In the event, Indonesia seeks to align economic growth into development in the green industry with various types of activities through critical minerals, downstreaming, green electricity development and so on. Then there is also the development of these things with decarbonization and the environment.

ISF activities are clearly in line with the energy transition agenda because they discuss how to use various renewable energy sources. In the International Sustainability Forum 2024 there are various discussions about technology, human resources, then efforts to protect the environment through waste management, reducing air pollution and many others.

In addition, climate change issues are one of the main focuses. Amidst the ongoing increase in global temperatures, ISF 2024 presents an in-depth discussion on mitigation measures that can be taken by various countries and industry sectors.

Nature-based solutions, such as ecosystem restoration and forest protection, are among the hot topics. The discussion is expected to generate real commitments from world leaders and industry to collaborate in addressing the climate crisis.

There was also discussion on waste management, an often overlooked but highly impactful topic, which was also highlighted at ISF 2024. The issue of plastic waste and urban waste was highlighted, given its negative impact on marine and terrestrial ecosystems.

The forum presents innovative initiatives to address these issues, from circular economy concepts to advanced recycling technologies. The presence of environmental activists and industry players sharing their successful experiences is expected to inspire new policies and more sustainable practices in the future.

With the various issues discussed, ISF 2024 can produce concrete and implementable recommendations, both by the government, the private sector, and the wider community. The forum, with all its diverse themes, not only provides an in-depth understanding of various sustainability issues, but also encourages real action.

Collaboration across disciplines and sectors is essential to create the catalyst for positive change that the world so desperately needs today.
