The security forces, both TNI, Polri and BIN, continue to work together in supporting the success of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. However, this step needs to have the support and active participation of the community so that the event can be successful and bring a positive image to Indonesia.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit or Summit 2023 will be held on 5-7 September 2023 in Jakarta. The event was not only attended by leaders of member countries of the ASEAN organization but also heads of state or government of ASEAN partner countries including the United States, China, Russia and the European Union. In total, the 43 ASEAN Summit will be attended by 26 countries and international organizations.
Indonesia continues to make a number of preparations as host of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit. Preparations for this event continue to be carried out to mark a historic moment for Indonesia and ASEAN member countries. Through the TNI – Polri and BIN, solidarity and synergy continue to be carried out in providing security and guarding the 43rd ASEAN High Level Conference (Summit) 2023 in Jakarta.
Security forces starting from elements of the TNI, Polri and BIN continue to ensure security readiness for the 43rd ASEAN Summit. This was directly confirmed by TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono who revealed that security for the 43rd ASEAN Summit would not be much different from security for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, NTT.
According to the TNI Commander, international events such as the Summit have already been held so that all staff are expected to be able to optimally carry out their duties very well. He also emphasized the importance of coordination between task forces so that the 43rd ASEAN Summit could take place safely and smoothly.
Meanwhile, the police have also prepared a number of traffic flow arrangements during the 43rd ASEAN Summit. According to the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Latif Usman, a number of traffic arrangements are mainly carried out in the Central and South Jakarta areas, including Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Gatot Subroto, as well as road access to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Then, the road sections that also receive great attention are toll roads, namely JORR North Ring and JORR South Ring. Then, his party also pays great attention to the roads that will be a point during the implementation of activities.
Not only that, the Police, the Department of Transportation and Satpol PP will also sterilize the area around the location of the 43rd ASEAN Summit such as in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout Area. Territorial sterilization is necessary so that the implementation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit can run smoothly and avoid disturbances that hamper traffic.
The Indonesian National Police also ensured the readiness of escorting and managing the traffic of the guest delegations from the airport, lodging places, and the ASEAN Summit activities. With maximum escort from the security forces, the delegates who attended were expected to feel safe and comfortable participating in all activities in the City of Jakarta.
In connection with the series of the 43rd ASEAN Summit which will also take place at TMII, the police will implement a policy for heavy vehicles, namely not being able to cross the inner-city toll roads for 2×24 hours or on 5-6 September 2023. Apart from the TNI – Polri and BIN, the DKI Satpol PP also deployed more than 550 personnel to strengthen preparations for the 43rd ASEAN Summit 2023 in Jakarta. According to DKI Satpol PP Head Arifin, the placement of personnel was carried out to anticipate the possibility of disturbances to peace and public order (tramtibum) during the event.
Security is carried out in the form of guarding, monitoring, patrolling and anticipating trambus disturbances at locations that will be visited by delegates from ASEAN Summit participating countries. To ensure this, Satpol PP continues to coordinate with the TNI – Polri and other security elements so that all activities run safely.
