Jakarta – The government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has recorded a number of significant achievements in the economic sector that deserve appreciation.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan), Sudaryono said that President Jokowi has succeeded in bringing Indonesian agriculture as a pillar of the country’s economy. He said that in the Jokowi era, Indonesia has succeeded in realizing self-sufficiency four times, namely in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
“In my opinion, Mr. Jokowi is extraordinary because he is able to implement the agricultural program well. He is the one who keeps the Indonesian economy strong when other countries tend to stagnate, and this is proof of the success of Indonesia’s agricultural program,” said the Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
Ten years of President Jokowi’s leadership, he continued, the number of Agricultural Business Households (RTUP) has increased over time. In 2023, there were 28,419,398 households, up 8.74 percent from 2013 which was only 26,135,469 households.
“Perhaps it should also be remembered that during the 10 years of the President’s leadership, Indonesia has faced many multidimensional crises. Including Covid-19 which has absorbed many of our young workers,” he said.
For information, President Jokowi was awarded the Agricola Medal from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), on Saturday (31/8/2024). The Agricola Medal is FAO’s highest award in the field of global food and agriculture given by FAO since 1977.
Sudaryono said that the Agricola Medal award from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was an appropriate award considering the enormous sacrifices and struggles of the Jokowi-era government.
“This is not an ordinary award, but an extraordinary award because FAO is the world’s food agency. And I think what the president has done for 10 years is truly extraordinary,” he said.
With this achievement, President Jokowi’s government shows a strong commitment to encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth, making Indonesia more competitive in the global arena. The government will continue to strive to face challenges and take advantage of opportunities for the welfare of the people.
