Jakarta – The narrative of “Indonesia Gelap” (Dark Indonesia) that has been circulating recently is seen as not reflecting the national spirit needed to face global challenges. The Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH. Marsudi Syuhud, emphasized that this pessimistic narrative emerges when the hopes of the people do not align with the real situation, particularly in times of economic pressure or declining incomes.
“President Prabowo Subianto prioritizes an optimistic approach in managing national resources. He balances desires and reality, and builds a positive narrative amid challenges,” he said.
According to KH. Marsudi, this approach is in line with religious values that encourage people to build the future with a spirit of optimism and togetherness, not fear or blame.
He also added that government transparency in communication is key to conveying the country’s situation honestly but constructively, so that the public understands that not all desires can be fulfilled immediately.
“President Prabowo has shown commitment to national strategic interests by setting measured and realistic development priorities. This is a form of responsibility in responding to global dynamics that also affect the economic stability of many countries, including Indonesia,” emphasized KH. Marsudi.
In agreement, Political Communication Expert from the University of Indonesia, Dr. Aditya Perdana, assessed that President Prabowo has successfully engaged various political forces to strengthen national stability. According to him, this move is not just a symbol of reconciliation, but also an important capital in creating an inclusive and responsive government.
“The current political situation should trigger national optimism, rather than provocative narratives that divide the nation. The President’s commitment to the principles of deliberative democracy deserves appreciation, especially with his openness to criticism and input,” said Dr. Aditya.
He also highlighted the President’s recognition of the previous government’s weaknesses in public communication, which shows political maturity and a willingness to improve. A more effective communication strategy, he added, will be an important instrument in maintaining public trust and strengthening public participation.
Building a bright Indonesia is not only the responsibility of the government but of all elements of the nation. In facing differences, the public is urged to uphold ethical dialogue, provide constructive criticism, and reject any form of provocation that could divide national unity.
