MBG Reaches 60 Million Beneficiaries, President Prabowo: 1 Million Jobs Created

Bogor — President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that to date, the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) Program has reached 60 million beneficiaries and has successfully created around 1 million jobs across various regions.

This achievement demonstrates that MBG functions not only as a nutritional support program but also as a driver of the people’s economy.

“Our MBG program has reached 60 million recipients today. We aim to reach 82 million by December 2026 at the latest. Even under the current conditions, MBG already has 22,275 operational SPPG kitchens, with another 13,829 under evaluation and approval. With just 22 thousand kitchens, we have already created 1 million jobs—22 kitchens times 5 people paid daily. That’s how we have created 1 million jobs,” Prabowo said during his Presidential Briefing at the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Central and Regional Governments in Sentul, Bogor, West Java.

The President explained that the thousands of operational SPPG kitchens serve as the backbone of MBG implementation in the field. These kitchens directly employ workers, ranging from cooks to distribution staff, who are paid daily.

In addition to creating direct employment, MBG stimulates the growth of village-based food supply chains. Each kitchen requires supplies such as vegetables, eggs, fish, chicken, and meat sourced from surrounding communities.

President Prabowo noted that each kitchen can involve 10 to 20 local suppliers, including farmers, livestock breeders, and fishermen.

With the program’s expansion to cover 82 million beneficiaries, Prabowo is confident that the economic impact of MBG will grow even further.

He projected that the number of jobs created could multiply several times as more SPPG kitchens operate across Indonesia.

“Eventually, if we reach 82 million MBG recipients, we will create 3 to 5 million jobs, ladies and gentlemen,” he said.

The President emphasized that the people’s primary need is real and sustainable employment. According to him, jobs can only be created through concrete policies and actual work on the ground, not merely rhetoric.

“I am proving to you, as President of the Republic of Indonesia, that I have already created 1 million jobs just through MBG,” he stated.

Through MBG, the government integrates nutritional fulfillment and job creation as a unified development strategy. The program is projected to become a key foundation for reducing poverty, strengthening village economies, and improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
