New Autonomous Region Able to Increase the Welfare of the Papuan People

Currently, Papua has 4 new autonomous regions (DOBs). With the existence of 4 new provinces, it brings many positive changes. One of them is increasing the welfare of the people of Papua. It has been proven that the addition of new autonomous regions has provided many benefits for the people of Cendrawasih Earth.

So far, the Papuan people have lived simply. the government has worked hard so that there is an even distribution of development throughout Indonesia, so that specifically for Papua there is special treatment, so that they too can enjoy various advances. The addition of 4 provinces (Southwest Papua, South Papua, Highlands Papua and Central Papua) is one way to further develop Papua.

The existence of 4 new autonomous regions has increased the welfare of the Papuan people. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo hopes that the formation of a new autonomous region will promote prosperity for the community. The central government continues to make every effort to prepare the formation of the new autonomous region in a mature way so that the welfare of the Papuan people will be increased. His party invited various elements of society and leaders in Papua to welcome the formation of the new autonomous region well.

John Wempi continued, the existence of the 4 new autonomous regions is a golden opportunity for generations in Papua to be able to obtain better welfare. He continues to invite parties in Highlands Papua to support the existing development process.

The central government has high hopes regarding the formation of 4 new autonomous regions in Papua. The hope is mainly so that people can be more prosperous and live in prosperity. Over time, the community will feel prosperous through the impact of the 4 new autonomous regions in Papua.

Infrastructure has been intensively built in Papua since there was a new autonomous region. The immigration office at the border was renovated to be decent, clean and no longer as shabby as it used to be. Life in the Papua region has also become more prosperous because the price of fuel has dropped drastically to only 10,000 rupiah per liter, from previously reaching 100,000 rupiah, since there was a 1 price fuel policy.

New infrastructure will be built in Papua for the development of the region. If there is a new province, a large-scale development will automatically be held. First of all, of course, what will be built is the highway, especially those leading to the provincial capital. Communities can enjoy smooth paved roads (not macadams) and can be passed by motorbikes.

If there are more paved roads in Papua, the better because it makes people’s mobility easier. This infrastructure is really needed because the people of Papua have had difficulty moving because of the geographical conditions on Cendrawasih Land which are too difficult to pass by motorized vehicles. However, if there is a highway, it will shorten travel time and save fuel.

Meanwhile, a senior Papuan figure, Michael Manufandu stated that the existence of 4 new autonomous regions in Papua must be supported by all parties, so that Papua is peaceful, prosperous and its people feel an increase in the economy evenly.

Michael added, the division of new autonomous regions in Papua is one of the government’s policies to accelerate and improve people’s welfare. Because in forming a province it only has a minimum of 5 regencies and cities that can already become provinces. Before the division of the region, Papua Province had 29 cities and regencies, so that when there was an addition to the new autonomous regions it was in accordance with the rules from the center.

In a sense, the public needs to understand that the addition of new autonomous regions in Papua is in accordance with the regulations. When there are 4 new autonomous regions, the goal is positive, namely the welfare of all the people of Papua. No one should reject the new provinces, because the 4 new autonomous regions were formed for the sake of improving the people’s economy, as well as facilitating control from the provincial government.

The addition of the new autonomous regions has been through consultation with indigenous Papuans (OAP) and the Papuan People’s Council. They are given the authority to participate in developing this region. The main purpose of adding provinces is for the welfare of Papua.

Regional expansion (additional new autonomous regions) in Papua is for the prosperity of the Papuan people, because they are part of Indonesia. There is no difference between Papuans and Javanese or other ethnicities, because all have the right to progress.

When a new province is established, it will be given APBD funds from the central government. These funds will be used to develop the area. Logically, the more provinces, the more APBD funds will be disbursed, so that there will be an even distribution of development in the Papua region.

Therefore, it is hoped that all Papuan people will support the existence of the 4 new autonomous regions because they have a positive impact on their lives, especially financially. The Papuan people are advised not to be provoked if there are calls to reject new provinces. Moreover, the formation of 4 new autonomous regions was actually a request from the people of Papua several years ago, and was granted by President Jokowi.

The government succeeded in increasing the welfare of the people of Papua through the addition of new autonomous regions. With 4 new autonomous regions, APBD funds will be added and used to build infrastructure. If there are good roads, it will also have a positive impact on the economy of the Papuan people, because it can save time, energy and shipping costs.
