Online gambling is a criminal act which is of course strictly prohibited in any religion. This activity not only destroys a person’s career, but also a person’s personal and family life.
In an effort to protect the public from this danger, various parties continue to provide outreach and education about the negative impacts of online gambling. The public is also invited to be equally aware of how important it is to stay away from the trap of online gambling and protect our future from destruction.
Gunung Mas Police in Central Kalimantan, one of them, has tried hard to provide guidance and outreach to the community. They carried out activities to socialize the negative impacts of online gambling in various locations, such as on Jalan Tumbang Ampit, Jalan Mantar, and Pasar Tewah.
In this outreach, residents were given an in-depth understanding of the dangers of online gambling, domestic violence (KDRT), and the importance of maintaining environmental security ahead of the Pilkada. Apart from that, they also introduced the Polri 110 contact service which can be used to report incidents or emergency situations.
This socialization aims to provide education and increase public awareness. By understanding the dangers of online gambling and domestic violence, it is hoped that society can better maintain family harmony and the surrounding environment. Apart from that, residents are also invited to actively report suspicious incidents to maintain environmental security.
In Palangka Raya, Acting Mayor Hera Nugrahayu also continually reminds the public to stay away from online gambling. Hera emphasized that online gambling not only threatens household economic stability, but also has a negative impact on mental health and social relationships.
The city government promised to continue to cooperate with law enforcement officials in eradicating online gambling activities. Intensive outreach and firm action will be taken to ensure that the public is protected from the negative impacts of online gambling.
Hera invites all elements of society, including youth, parents, and communities, to increase awareness and work together in fighting online gambling. With good cooperation from all parties, it is hoped that an environment that is safe and free from the negative influences of online gambling can be created.
Achmad Deni Daruri, an observer and President Director of the Center for Banking Crisis (CBC), revealed that the most effective way to destroy online gambling activities is to destroy the payment system that supports it.
According to him, if banks and non-bank financial institutions do not facilitate transactions related to online gambling, these activities will be greatly hampered. So far, Bank Indonesia has been considered to be making it too easy for online gamblers to make banking transactions. Meanwhile, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) is also considered less firm in supervising transactions related to online gambling.
Deni suggested several steps to combat online gambling. First, increasing cooperation between government institutions such as the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo), OJK, and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to identify and block online gambling transactions.
Second, implementing stricter regulations on financial institutions and electronic payment services to ensure they do not process transactions related to online gambling. Third, the use of data analysis technology and artificial intelligence to detect suspicious transaction patterns that may be related to online gambling.
Other steps that can be taken are blocking access to online gambling sites by Kominfo and stricter law enforcement against online gambling players and payment service providers involved. Public education regarding the risks and negative impacts of online gambling is also very important. The public needs to be given an understanding of the dangers of online gambling and how to report suspicious activity.
Financial institutions are also encouraged to report suspicious activity to PPATK and take preventive action such as closing accounts involved in online gambling. Apart from that, there needs to be international cooperation to handle online gambling sites that operate across countries.
To ensure that all these steps work well, banking regulations must be updated and strengthened so that bank accounts are not used as a means for online gambling. Bank Indonesia must also be more careful in granting permits to payment service providers owned by online gambling entities. Understanding and complying with applicable regulations is key to preventing this illegal activity.
Let’s together take a firm stance against online gambling. The choice is ours to protect ourselves and the people we love from this danger. By raising awareness, reporting suspicious activity, and cooperating with authorities, we can create an environment that is safe and free from the negative effects of online gambling.
Remember, the small decisions we make today can bring big changes in our lives and the lives of those around us. Don’t let online gambling destroy our careers and lives. Let’s fight together to combat online gambling which has been proven to be able to damage the life of the nation and state.
