Jakarta – The government will conduct a quarterly audit of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program managed by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This step was expressed by the Head of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan as part of an effort to ensure that the program runs optimally and continues to improve.
The Head of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan firmly instructed the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to audit the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. According to Luhut, this step is necessary to ensure the continuity of the program, considering that its success is highly dependent on implementation in line with the plans and targets that have been set.
“To ensure the sustainability of this Free Nutritious Meals program, I also ask BGN to conduct a gradual audit so that the governance of this program remains strong and accountable,” said Luhut.
Luhut stated that the decision to conduct this periodic audit was the result of his meeting with the Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana and the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, on Tuesday (12/3/2025). In addition, a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto on Wednesday morning also strengthened the decision.
“We have met with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana. We also agreed with the Minister of Bappenas to be audited once a quarter,” said Luhut.
According to him, this audit will help the MBG program to continue to improve and ensure that its benefits can be felt widely by the community. He emphasized that the MBG program has a positive impact on the national economy.
“So that way we will know later what is lacking and all that, because it takes time to improve. But this program is very good,” he said.
Currently, the MBG program has been running in 38 provinces involving 2 million beneficiaries. This program is supported by 722 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) tasked with maintaining food quality and smooth distribution. The government is targeting to increase the number of SPPGs to 32 thousand units by the end of 2025 so that more people can feel the benefits of this program. To ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the MBG program, BGN is asked to conduct audits in stages. This step aims to strengthen program governance so that it remains transparent, accountable, and sustainable in the long term.
