Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto affirmed his commitment to continue the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN), namely to complete the development in the next four years. This belief was strengthened by statements from several government figures and industry players who are ready to support the realization of the national strategic project.
Acting Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure of the IKN Authority, Danis Sumadilaga stated that the target for IKN development has been set until 2028. Responding to the circulating issue that Prabowo will slow down development, Danis ensured that this project remains a top priority with a focus on building a complete ecosystem that includes executive, legislative, and judicial offices.
“IKN will continue with the priority of comprehensive infrastructure development,” he said.
Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni also supported this statement, saying that President Prabowo had set a target to complete the construction of the IKN within four years.
“He discussed the IKN specifically in the ministerial briefing and emphasized the importance of accelerating this project,” said Raja Juli on his social media account.
As a concrete step, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) has prepared 3,100 hectares of land in Penajam Paser Utara Regency to support the IKN infrastructure. Minister of ATR, Nusron Wahid explained that the land acquisition process in the core area is the responsibility of the IKN Authority, while areas outside the IKN are under the authority of the ATR Ministry.
“We have prepared land that will be managed by the land bank to support logistics and vital needs for the IKN in the future,” said Nusron at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta (31/10).
On the other hand, the industrial sector is also preparing to support the acceleration of this project. PT Semen Indonesia Tbk. (SIG) expressed its optimism regarding the positive impact of the development of the IKN and the acceleration of the government’s 3 million houses per year development program.
SIG Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni stated that her party is ready to provide environmentally friendly building material solutions, including superior products such as Precise Interlock Brick (PIB), which is designed to accelerate the construction of earthquake-resistant houses.
“Our PIB product innovation can significantly speed up construction duration, and we have tested it on the construction of a residential example in the IKN which only took 15 days,” explained Vita.
SIG also collaborates with banks to provide Home Ownership Credit (KPR), supporting community access to decent and affordable housing.
These concrete steps from the government and the industrial sector show Indonesia’s seriousness in realizing the IKN as a new, modern and sustainable center of government. With strong supporting infrastructure and commitment from various parties, the Prabowo government is trying to ensure that the development of the IKN runs according to schedule and becomes a symbol of Indonesia’s progress.
