Jakarta – Indonesia once again holds the chairmanship of ASEAN and Jakarta will host the ASEAN High Level Conference (KTT) in 2023. Jakarta has been carefully prepared to welcome the leaders of ASEAN countries who will hold a meeting there to ensure the smooth running of the 43rd ASEAN Summit.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said Indonesia is ready to hold the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta on 5-7 September 2023. Jakarta is ready to be a good host and provide a special experience to all ASEAN delegates attending.
“Everything has been planned, everything has been prepared,” said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also added that Indonesia wants to lay a strong foundation so that the region is able to face challenges and play a central role. ASEAN has strong assets in economic growth, demographic bonus and trust.
“As Chair of ASEAN, Indonesia wants to lay a strong foundation so that it is able to face challenges and respond to dynamics and play a central role, where ASEAN has strong assets in economic growth, demographic bonuses and areas with the best economic opportunities,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Human Settlement of the PUPR Ministry, Diana Kusumastuti said that her party was also supporting the implementation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit by rehabilitating the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The JCC rehabilitation concept has a main design that has elements that are thick with culture that can reflect the character and identity of the Indonesian nation.
“We added instruments that depict Indonesia’s diversity, for example adding synthetic rattan dressing, padded walls and carpets,” said Diana.
In a different place, the Acting (PJ) Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono said in an effort to ensure the smooth running of the 43rd ASEAN Summit, his party had made various preparations in anticipation of traffic jams that might occur during the ASEAN Summit as well as improving the quality of infrastructure.
“To reduce congestion, we will rely on mass transportation that is being built to support those that are already operating. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has repaired and improved the quality of roads, bridges and other public facilities. “Some of them are roads in the Sudirman, Thamrin and Gatot Subroto areas,” said Heru.
Heru added, by integrating mature infrastructure preparation and unique city experience, Jakarta will provide an impressive 43rd ASEAN Summit and realize ASEAN as a center for higher economic growth compared to other countries outside ASEAN.
