Jakarta, – During his 10 years of leadership, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has contributed a lot to advancing the Indonesian economy. Jokowi has left an extraordinary legacy. This was said by Telisa Aulia Falianty, Professor at the Faculty of Business Economics, University of Indonesia (FEB UI) in the Sapa Indonesia Malam program broadcast by Kompas TV (4/10/2024).
“We appreciate Pak Jokowi that he is the father of Indonesian infrastructure because he left an extraordinary legacy,” he said.
Furthermore, Telisa Aulia Falianty said that infrastructure development provides quite a large multiplayer effect, because basically the characteristics of infrastructure in Indonesia are that it is built as labor intensive.
“Many National Strategy Projects (PSN) are creating employment opportunities, because we are currently encouraging the fulfillment of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) targets for infrastructure development with local products, such as the cement industry, transportation and so on from the domestic economy”
Infrastructure development has a very good impact on society, because there is efficiency that occurs in people’s daily activities
“That certainly has a big impact, we as a society feel the efficiency of our activities with this infrastructure development,” he continued.
Telisa said that in the field of technological infrastructure, our internet speed is accelerating, such as from 4G to 5G, making it easier for us to communicate and be productive.
The incoming government will continue to build this infrastructure. This also includes access to mobility, because some of our remote areas are difficult to access by land, for example by sea or air.
On the same occasion, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, said that increasing infrastructure development provides evidence for all of improving connectivity.
“Massive infrastructure development will impact economic growth within a decade,” he said.
Susiwijono further said that the Government is currently focused on building connectivity and mobility, such as airports, ports, railway lines, then there are also those related to energy and food sovereignty with 53 dams, food estates with irrigation networks.
In terms of downstreaming, the government has established Special Economic Zones (KEK), to date there are 22 of which 15 are outside Java, thereby encouraging an inclusive economy. The additional workforce has reached 122 thousand workers.
Susiwijono said that regarding the outermost and underdeveloped regions (3T) it had boosted the economy in border areas, such as Jayapura, Irian, then there was also the border with Timor Leste.
“If we look at the PSN, every time we change this with the Presidential Decree or Coordinating Ministerial Decree, the PSN list is always increasing. These are all multi-year projects, so in terms of numbers, relatively all of them have been completed and some are still in process,” he said.
For future sustainability, the government wants to push back some of the infrastructure that has been built in the past 10 years, what will happen next? For example, from 61 dams there have been 53, next we will encourage the irrigation network, optimizing the use of the dams themselves.
