In his opening speech, President Jokowi emphasized the importance of development that is not only oriented towards short-term economic profits, but also considers aspects of sustainability and the synergy between economic growth and environmental sustainability.
“This climate crisis cannot be solved with an approach that only prioritizes profit. We must combine environmental interests and people’s welfare,” said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also highlighted that Indonesia has great potential in renewable energy, which can be a driving force for the transition to a green economy. This confirms Indonesia’s seriousness in maintaining a balance between development and environmental preservation.
“Indonesia is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by maximizing our renewable energy potential, including floating solar power plants and the world’s largest mangrove forests that have extraordinary carbon absorption capabilities,” President Jokowi added.
In addition, the President stated that success in handling climate change requires a collaborative approach between developed and developing countries. President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia is open to partnering with any country in advancing green energy investment. President Jokowi also called for real action from developed countries to invest in the energy transition.
