JAKARTA — President Joko Widodo has demonstrated visionary and diplomatic leadership in various international forums, making Indonesia a country to be reckoned with on the global stage.
This success can be seen from Indonesia’s active role in leading a number of important events, such as the G20 Summit, ASEAN, and the World Water Forum.
Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo), Budi Arie Setiadi, said that world attention to Indonesia has increased during the 10 years of President Jokowi’s leadership.
According to him, Indonesia’s success in holding various international forums shows this country’s capacity as a global leader.
“During the 10 years of President Joko Widodo’s leadership, many world forums were presented. “This puts Indonesia in the international spotlight,” said Budi.
He added that the success of events such as the G20 and ASEAN under the leadership of the man born in 1961 had strengthened Indonesia’s position in the eyes of the world.
The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, expressed a similar view, saying that President Jokowi always emphasized the importance of concrete steps in various international forums.
According to Luhut, the Head of State felt tired of discussions that only focused on discourse without real results.
“The President often says to me, ‘I want concrete things, not just big discourse,'” said Luhut.
For example, Luhut mentioned several concrete projects such as oil refining cooperation with Kenya and handling marine waste, which are clear evidence of Indonesia’s commitment to global problems.
On the other hand, international politics expert from UGM, Dr. Riza Noer Arfani, assessed that President Jokowi’s visit to Ukraine and Russia was very strategic in the context of the G20 Presidency.
Riza emphasized that the visit showed Indonesia’s seriousness in maintaining global stability.
“President Jokowi’s visit has strategic significance, because Indonesia wants to encourage world peace and restore economic stability which has been disrupted by conflict,” he said.
President Jokowi’s success in leading various international forums proves that Indonesia has a significant role in maintaining global stability, both through diplomacy and concrete actions that support world peace and prosperity.
