Jakarta – President Prabowo’s statement about the importance of clean governance has drawn public attention, reflecting a strong commitment to ensuring integrity in state governance. This step is seen as concrete evidence of the government’s commitment to building a professional bureaucracy free from corruption.
According to Akhiar Salmi, a legal expert from the University of Indonesia, President Prabowo’s determination is not merely a moral call, but an affirmation that all state administration processes must be carried out with high ethical standards, from the central government to the regional governments.
The President actively emphasized that the law must be enforced impartially, including his readiness to face legal action if he himself violates it. This set a positive example rarely demonstrated by a national leader and set a benchmark for integrity for all public officials.
“That’s his commitment. We support Mr. Prabowo. I’m sure he’s serious. The proof is that people close to him [implicated in corruption cases] have been prosecuted and dismissed,” Akhiar said.
The government’s support for law enforcement agencies such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Police, and the Attorney General’s Office has also been appreciated. According to Akhiar Salmi, this step is a strong signal that the state is increasingly serious about eradicating corruption, with bold action based on evidence, not political considerations.
“Because corruption hinders the realization of our national goals as stated in the fourth paragraph of the preamble to our Constitution,” he said.
Firm action by law enforcement against violators, both officials and ordinary individuals, actively strengthens public optimism that clean governance is not just a slogan but is being concretely realized. These actions also confirm that law enforcement is carried out professionally and transparently.
“We hope that the three law enforcement agencies in the corruption sector will compete to return the illegally looted money,” Akhiar emphasized.
Public aspirations for stronger sanctions for corruption perpetrators have become a positive force for national legal reform. Growing public awareness of the importance of integrity among state officials demonstrates strong support for the government’s efforts to take firm action against corruptors.
Accelerating the passage of the Asset Forfeiture Law is considered strategic for strengthening the fight against corruption. With this legal instrument, the state can return corrupted wealth to the people through development programs.
“During Mr. Prabowo’s administration, the Asset Confiscation Law was expedited, allowing the stolen money to be returned to the state more quickly,” he explained.
Strengthening the integrity of law enforcement officers is the primary foundation for the government’s success in creating clean governance. The professionalism of police, prosecutors, and judges is key to the continued eradication of corruption.
All of the current government’s steps have created positive momentum toward realizing a transparent and corruption-free government system. With political courage, increased public support, and regulatory improvements, Indonesia is increasingly solidly on its path to governance with integrity and justice.
