President Prabowo Affirms Commitment to Eradicating Corruption and Equitable Prosperity

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto’s speech at the MPR Annual Session on August 15, 2025, drew public attention. On that occasion, the President emphasized the government’s policy direction, which focuses on eradicating corruption, strengthening the people’s economy, and equitable distribution of prosperity from Sabang to Merauke.

Hariqo Wibawa Satria, Chief Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, emphasized that the President’s message was not mere rhetoric, but rather a stern warning to perpetrators of corruption and greedy economic practices. “The President likened the country to a human body. If blood continues to flow, the body will die. The ones bleeding are corruptors and those who embrace greed. That’s what the President meant: that no one should feel above the law,” Hariqo said.

Hariqo explained that during the 10 months of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, dozens of corruption cases have been successfully investigated, even involving figures previously considered above the law. “We can see that there are big names being investigated. This proves that the President will not defend a handful of individuals who harm millions of people,” Hariqo emphasized.

This commitment is also reflected in the move to increase judges’ salaries by up to 280 percent. According to Hariqo, this policy aims to strengthen the integrity of the judiciary. “The President has sworn to defend the interests of the people. One way to do this is by ensuring that law enforcement is carried out impartially. The increase in judges’ salaries is part of an effort to strengthen the independence of the judiciary, preventing it from being easily interfered with,” Hariqo explained.

Beyond legal issues, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of managing natural resources for the benefit of the people. In his speech, he asserted, “We will expand downstream processing, create jobs, and maximize added value. All the nation’s children must progress, and education, health, and equitable development must be ensured from Sabang to Merauke,” President Prabowo asserted.

The government also places significant emphasis on social missions. The President aims to reduce extreme poverty to zero percent by utilizing the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN). “There should no longer be any wealthy individuals benefiting from public subsidies,” the President concluded.

During his 299-day presidency, various achievements have been recorded, including the inauguration of 80,081 Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperatives as a driving force for the people’s economy. These cooperatives are expected to create millions of jobs and provide basic necessities at affordable prices. “To address the concentration of money circulation in cities, we have established 80,000 Red and White Village and Sub-district Cooperatives to improve the village economy and create millions of new jobs,” said President Prabowo.

Economic growth also showed a positive trend. The second quarter of 2025 recorded a growth rate of 5.12 percent, while investment in the first half of 2025 reached Rp942 trillion, a 13.6 percent increase from the previous year. This achievement also created employment for up to 1.2 million people.

President Prabowo Subianto’s state address was also seen as a pivotal moment in modern Indonesian political and economic history. His strong message of eradicating corruption, strengthening the people’s economy, and equitable development was seen as a moral compass for all officials and businesspeople toward a resilient, independent, and prosperous Indonesia.
