President Prabowo Directs Danatara to Open Investment Opportunities from Thailand

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto continues to push for the opening of foreign investment opportunities to Indonesia, especially from the Southeast Asia region. During his visit to Thailand, President Prabowo firmly directed the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to expand investment cooperation with Thai investment institutions.

“We are also committed to holding the First Joint Trade Commission in the near future and enhancing cooperation between Thai investment institutions and with Danantara, an Indonesian investment management institution,” President Prabowo said in a joint statement after meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra at Government House, Bangkok.

This step is part of President Prabowo’s strategy to strengthen bilateral relations with ASEAN countries, as well as create an inclusive and sustainable investment ecosystem. In the meeting, the two leaders agreed to establish the First Joint Trade Commission as a forum for dialogue and collaboration between investment institutions of the two countries.

In the bilateral forum, President Prabowo invited Thailand to form a joint venture in food management and storage.

“We want this cooperation not only at the policy level, but also to produce real action. In the field of food security, Indonesia invites Thailand to form a joint venture so that the food distribution and storage system can be more stable and efficient in the region,” he continued.

The air transportation sector is also part of the cooperation that was appreciated by the President. He welcomed the opening of a new flight route between Indonesia and Thailand as an initial step in strengthening connectivity and mobility of economic actors in both countries.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, emphasized that this cooperation is a continuation of the diplomatic dialogue that had been established previously.

“As discussed yesterday by the foreign ministries of both countries, there will be investment cooperation. Danantara will be the main vehicle for that cooperation,” he said at the Rosewood Hotel, Bangkok.

Sugiono explained that Danantara, as a superholding managing state assets, has the mandate and infrastructure to manage investments across sectors and countries.

“We also convey that currently Indonesia already has one sovereign wealth fund institution that manages all assets owned by the Indonesian state, namely Danantara,” he said.

This bilateral investment cooperation is expected to accelerate national economic development and expand employment opportunities.

President Prabowo’s visit to Thailand not only strengthens diplomatic relations, but also shows the government’s commitment to making Indonesia a strategic partner in the region, especially in the field of cross-border trade and investment.
