President Prabowo Encourages Pro-People Leadership and Clean Governance in Regions

Bogor — President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the direction of national leadership must prioritize the interests of the people and place clean governance as a fundamental pillar. This statement was delivered during the 2026 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of Central and Regional Governments, which brought together central government officials and all regional leaders at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday (2/2/2026).

The national forum served as a consolidation space to ensure that all regional leaders share the same orientation: delivering a government that works for the wider public, not for personal or narrow group interests. Addressing the heads of regions, the President emphasized that public expectations of leaders are increasingly high, particularly regarding integrity and fairness.

President Prabowo Subianto stressed that Indonesian society is highly sensitive to the behavior and attitudes of its leaders. “They do not like leaders who only advance their own personal interests,” the President affirmed.

This emphasis serves as a reminder that leadership legitimacy is not determined solely by formal positions but also by genuine alignment with the people’s needs. The President explained that the type of leader the public expects is someone who works with conscience, upholds honesty, and can deliver a sense of justice in public life.

President Prabowo also noted that public expectations of leaders are universal and timeless.

“They always hope for good leaders, fair leaders, honest leaders, leaders who work with all the people,” he said.

In the context of rapidly changing national and global dynamics, the President reminded regional leaders of the importance of vigilance and situational awareness. Leaders are expected not to govern naively but to understand the real challenges faced by their communities.

Leadership, President Prabowo stated, demands sharp judgment and readiness to face various possibilities. “We must also be leaders who are not naive; we must be alert, understand, and know the situation,” he concluded.

Rakornas 2026 was attended by all regional leaders, from governors, regents, and mayors to their deputies, along with representatives from the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda). The cross-sector attendance was considered strategic for strengthening policy synergy between central and regional governments.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the meeting was designed as a platform to align government steps.

“By bringing together all elements, we aim to unify actions, vision, and perception,” said Prasetyo.

In addition to strengthening synergy, the Rakornas served as a moment to evaluate the implementation of national programs, including the commitment to good governance and corruption-free administration, which the President continues to emphasize.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi highlighted that integrity remains a primary focus for the President.

“The commitment to good governance and running a corruption-free government has always been a major concern of the President,” Prasetyo concluded.
