Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten. This inauguration marks the government’s concrete steps in improving services for millions of Indonesian hajj and umrah pilgrims, as well as facilitating the process of departure and return from and to the Holy Land.
In his remarks, President Prabowo said that the number of hajj and umrah pilgrims from Indonesia is among the largest in the world.
“Our citizens in one year can approach 2.2 million pilgrims, and at its peak it can reach 12 thousand people per day. This is something big, maybe we are the largest in the world,” he said.
Prabowo considered that with such a large number of pilgrims, it is only right that the government provides adequate special facilities.
“I welcome and express my highest appreciation and appreciation for the policies and efforts of all parties involved in the revitalization of Terminal 2F into a Special Hajj and Umrah Terminal,” he added.
Terminal 2F, which is now converted into a special terminal for hajj and umrah pilgrims, has an area of 27,400 square meters and a capacity of 6.1 million passengers per year.
This terminal consists of three floors and is equipped with various supporting facilities, such as a mosque, an umrah lounge that can accommodate up to 3,000 people, 20 check-in counters, and a large waiting area that is comfortable for pilgrims and their families.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi also welcomed the inauguration. He emphasized that this terminal will increase the comfort and solemnity of the pilgrims’ worship.
“With the existence of a special Hajj and Umrah terminal, of course it will improve services to pilgrims, so that the journey becomes more comfortable and it is hoped that pilgrims can be more solemn in their worship,” said Dudy in his statement.
Dudy also added that the Ministry of Transportation has provided maximum support, including through the operation of three airlines, namely Garuda Indonesia, Saudi Airlines, and Lion Air.
“We hope that through Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the departure of hajj pilgrims, especially from Jakarta and its surrounding areas, will be smoother,” he said.
With this inauguration, the government shows a strong commitment to providing the best service for the community who want to perform the holy pilgrimage. Terminal 2F is expected to be a symbol of excellent service and respect for the worship of Muslims in the country.-
