President Prabowo Visits Beijing to Strengthen Diplomacy to Ensure Domestic Stability

Jakarta – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Beijing, China, is not merely to attend a military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance, but also an important momentum for Indonesia to strengthen diplomacy with major countries.

Public policy observer and senior academic at Trisakti University, Dr. Trubus Rahardiansah, said that President Prabowo’s decision to depart for Beijing was taken after ensuring that domestic conditions were under control, dialogue with religious leaders was held, and the people’s aspirations were heard.

“This principle aligns with Huntington’s concept of stability, which states that stability is not the absence of conflict, but rather the state’s ability to respond quickly to social dynamics,” he explained.

He also believes that President Prabowo’s decision to go to Beijing actually confirms his leadership capacity.

“Xi Jinping’s invitation is no ordinary event. From Indonesia’s perspective, this step confirms our active role in global diplomacy,” Trubus said.

According to him, the position of sitting alongside Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in the parade was not just a matter of location, but a symbol of global recognition of Indonesia.

“In fact, only the Indonesian President has received a special bilateral meeting with Xi. It’s a rare diplomatic privilege,” he stressed.

International relations observer Dinna Prapto Raharja said that Prabowo’s presence shows that Indonesia, as a middle power, wants to hear directly the positions of major countries amidst tense global dynamics.

“I hope the President will follow up by maintaining a calm global situation and not being provoked by harsh rhetoric,” Dinna said.

On the other hand, Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, stated that President Prabowo’s presence was a direct invitation from President Xi Jinping.

“This is not just a matter of protocol, but a rare diplomatic honor,” said Prasetyo.

Apart from attending the event, President Prabowo also held a special meeting with President Xi Jinping.

Prasetyo also stated that the President continues to monitor the situation in Indonesia and receives reports from all relevant officials.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written statement that the two leaders affirmed their commitment to continue strengthening cooperation in various sectors, particularly the economy and investment.

“Each of them is to follow up and ensure the progress of various economic investments that have been established between the two countries,” said Teddy.

During the visit, President Prabowo Subianto also held a special meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This meeting was a key item on the President’s agenda to strengthen strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia. [RWA]
