President Prabowo’s Anti-Corruption Commitment is a New Momentum for Clean Governance

Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to clean governance continues to attract public attention and is being appreciated by various groups. The government is seen as building a foundation for more transparent and corruption-free governance, in line with public demands for a state administration with integrity.

University of Indonesia legal expert, Akhiar Salmi, SH, MH, said that President Prabowo’s statement about the importance of clean governance is a strong signal that the corruption eradication agenda is a top priority.

“That’s his commitment. We support Mr. Prabowo. I’m sure he’s serious. The proof is that people close to him have been prosecuted and dismissed,” Akhiar emphasized.

According to him, the President’s courage in emphasizing that all government processes must be carried out with high ethical standards, from the central to the regional levels, demonstrates a commitment that is not merely rhetoric.

Amidst the strengthening of the anti-corruption agenda, Akhiar assessed that the President’s steps were an example for all state officials.

“The President’s firmness in enforcing the law without discrimination and his willingness to face legal action for violations are examples of ethical commitment rarely demonstrated by a national leader,” he said.

Akhiar also highlighted that legal action against officials or individuals proven to have committed violations provides great optimism for the public.

“The actions taken by law enforcement officers demonstrate that clean governance is being concretely realized and is not just a slogan,” he said.

In addition, the increasing public aspirations for increased sanctions against corruptors are said to be a positive energy for national legal reform.

He assessed that accelerating discussions on the Asset Confiscation Law was a strategic step to strengthen efforts to eradicate corruption.

“The Asset Confiscation Law also needs to be expedited, during Mr. Prabowo’s era, so that the money they took can be returned to the state more quickly,” he explained.

According to Akhiar, the success of the anti-corruption agenda also depends heavily on the integrity of law enforcement officers who are the spearhead of justice.

With strong political support, growing public awareness, and accelerated regulatory improvements, Indonesia is on the right track toward governance with integrity. This is proof that a new era of state governance that is firm, transparent, and pro-people is being built on a solid foundation. (*)
