Jakarta – The government under President Prabowo Subianto continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving the quality of human resources by launching the Free Health Check (CKG) Program in various regions. This program aims to raise public awareness of the importance of regular health checks as a preventative measure for disease and to foster healthy lifestyles. The government is also developing the CKG Program in schools.
The CKG program provides free basic health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks, nutritional assessments, and medical consultations. The government also involves healthcare workers from community health centers (Puskesmas), regional hospitals, and medical volunteers to ensure optimal implementation.
The Free Health Check (CKG) program in schools began in August 2025, targeting 53,844,419 students from 282,317 educational institutions. In addition to students, members of the public celebrating their birthdays can also seek health checks at community health centers (Puskesmas). This program can serve as a gateway to a healthier lifestyle.
Hariqo Wibawa Satria, Chief Expert at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), stated that the CKG program is more than just a medical service. It’s an effort to change the public’s mindset about health.
“The CKG program is the starting point for freedom from disease. From there, the public will become more aware of the need to maintain their health,” said Hariqo.
Hariqo hopes that every Independence Day celebration on August 17th, the number of citizens free from illness will increase. President Prabowo has prepared ongoing priority programs, including CKG (Call for Prevention of Tuberculosis), Stop Tuberculosis (TB), revitalization of Regional General Hospitals (RSUD), and special allowances for specialist doctors in underdeveloped, border, and island regions (DTPK).
According to Hariqo, the burden of disease in Indonesia remains heavy. Disease not only erodes labor productivity but also suppresses economic growth. Studies have recorded that productivity losses due to illness reached 6.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2015, and are predicted to rise to 7.2% by 2030 if left untreated. Economic losses also arise from smoking, obesity, and tropical diseases.
The government aims to increase life expectancy, which currently stands at 73–74 years. Every citizen is encouraged to have a health check-up at least once a year, with services open to all.
Through the CKG Program, President Prabowo’s administration aims to ensure that health is not just an individual responsibility, but also part of equitable and equitable public services. The Free Health Check Program is expected to be a significant milestone in building collective public awareness for healthier living for a stronger future for Indonesia.
