Jakarta – A music group from Papua, MAC (Children’s Music Commentary) took part in enlivening the stage for celebrating the 78th Birthday (HUT) of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (17/8/2023). MAC is a guided music group from the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) assisted by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
A distinctive voice with meaningful lyrics is the main attraction for MAC, especially for people who are proud of the richness of Papuan culture. On the grand stage, a MAC member humbly thanked President Joko Widodo for his concern and efforts in developing Papua.
In front of Jokowi, MAC performed hit songs, one of which was ‘Only Me’.
MAC’s companion, Julio Faot could not hide his joy. For him, the appearance at the State Palace is a historical milestone which proves that the talents of Papuan children can shine on the national and international stage.
“We are proud to see Anana Papua increasingly shining on the national and even international stage, through the art of music, the rising sun in the east continues to shine. A historic moment for the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17, 2023 at the Republic of Indonesia Palace,” wrote Julio in an upload on his personal Instagram, @Julio_fpapua, quoted Thursday (17/8/2023).
Aside from being entertainment, MAC’s performance also conveys a deep message about unity, progress, and appreciation for the various unique talents possessed by Indonesian youths.
MAC did not only appear at the State Palace in Jakarta. On Friday (18/8), this band will entertain the Papuan extended family who live in the Greater Jakarta area through a grand concert at Banteng Square, Jakarta.
