Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 Inflation Projected to Remain Under Control

Jakarta – Inflationary pressures during the Ramadan 2026 period through Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri are projected to remain within a safe corridor. Bank Indonesia (BI) has ensured that the seasonal surge in demand that occurs each year can still be managed through solid policy coordination and stable food supply conditions. This optimism sends a positive signal for the national economy amid ongoing global uncertainty.

Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Aida S. Budiman, emphasized that inflation during Ramadan and Eid this year is expected to remain within the target range of 2.5 percent ±1 percent, or between 1.5 percent and 3.5 percent. According to her, stable food supply and well-controlled core inflation are the main factors supporting this projection.

“The conditions during Ramadan and Eid are still well maintained. However, there remains an impact from administered prices due to last year’s electricity discount, so the figure is expected to be slightly above 3 percent,” Aida said.

She explained that BI conducts weekly price monitoring to ensure inflation developments stay in line with projections. So far, price trends for various commodities are considered to remain on a controlled path.

“We conduct weekly monitoring of prices, and all are still within Bank Indonesia’s projected range. Hopefully, this will remain stable through March,” she added.

Meanwhile, BI Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that the central bank will continue to assess the room for interest rate policy by considering global dynamics and the latest economic data. According to him, the global economic outlook shows signs of slowing growth, accompanied by heightened uncertainty in financial markets.

“At present, the global economic outlook shows a slowing trend with high financial market uncertainty. However, stable domestic conditions provide room for monetary policy to remain measured and accommodative,” he said.

At the regional level, inflation control has also become a serious concern for provincial governments. West Java Regional Secretary Herman Suryatman stated that the provincial government, together with various stakeholders, continues to monitor conditions to ensure they remain safe and conducive during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

“We want to ensure that stocks are secure, transportation runs smoothly, and communication between agencies is effective,” he said.

Herman added that, based on preliminary monitoring, prices of several commodities across various regions remain relatively under control. The Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) will move swiftly if price spikes occur.

“We will examine all aspects, from prices, supply, and distribution to inter-agency coordination. These four elements are what we continuously safeguard during Ramadan,” Herman concluded.

With consistent supervision and adaptive policy responses, optimism regarding domestic economic stability remains well maintained.
