Realizing Equal Development, Academics: President Jokowi is the Father of Indonesian Infrastructure

Jakarta — Academics awarded the title Father of Indonesian Infrastructure to President Jokowi because they considered that the Head of State had succeeded in realizing equitable development.

During the ten years of President Jokowi’s leadership, infrastructure development has become one of the main priorities in realizing the Indonesiacentric vision.

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia focused on various infrastructure sectors that support economic acceleration and equitable development throughout Indonesia.

FEB UI Professor, Telisa Aulia Falianty assesses that the intensive development of infrastructure in the era of President Jokowi’s leadership has had a big impact.

Moreover, according to him, the characteristics of development that has been intensified so far are labor intensive so that they are able to absorb quite a few jobs.

“Infrastructure has quite a large multiplier effect, the characteristic of infrastructure in Indonesia is that it is labor intensive, because many PSNs absorb employment opportunities,” explained Telisa in one of the discussion events, on Friday (4/10).

Not half-hearted, Telisa even thinks that President Jokowi deserves the title of Father of Indonesian Infrastructure because of his extraordinary legacy.

“We appreciate Pak Jokowi that he is the Father of Indonesian Infrastructure because he left an extraordinary legacy,” emphasized the FEB UI Professor.

According to him, in the era of President Jokowi’s leadership, all the basic needs of society, including those in the 3T areas, were well supplied.

“In the era of President Jokowi, all of society’s basic needs continue to be supplied and encouraged by improving connectivity, including village roads,” said Telisa.

“So that people’s needs can be met properly, prices become stable, which is one of his achievements too,” he added.

Apart from building toll roads connecting various regions, President Jokowi has succeeded in realizing various large projects such as building airports, ports and dams.

Telisa believes that with better infrastructure development, of course people will have better education.

“In the future, human resources will also be the focus of the next government, later with stronger human resources we will be able to manage infrastructure better. So the infrastructure can be utilized, the President has created a very strong basic foundation, namely good infrastructure,” he explained .

Likewise, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, assessed that infrastructure development in the era of President Jokowi was very massive and had a good impact on economic growth.

“This massive infrastructure development has had a huge impact on our economic growth over the past decade,” he said.

Susiwijono said, there were 22 downstream areas from Special Economic Zones (KEK).

“If we look at the distribution of 15 people outside Java, this is encouraging an inclusive economy. The additional workforce has reached 122 thousand workers,” explained Susiwijono.

He hopes that the next government will be able to make infrastructure development the mainstay of encouraging national economic growth.

“Hopefully it will be sustainable in the future with the (new) government still allocating more than IDR 400T, hopefully this infrastructure will really become our main mainstay to encourage our economic growth,” he concluded.
