Responding to Megawati’s Speech on Recitation, Ulama Call for Good Prejudice

Jakarta — One of the efforts to maintain the unity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in the political year 2023 before 2024, all parties must be able to avoid prejudice, including narratives conveyed by anyone so that this nation is not easily divided.

Regarding the polemic from Megawati’s speech some time ago regarding women reciting recitations, the Chairperson of the PDIP DPC Solo City, FX Hadi Rudyatmo said that in fact the speech had absolutely no tendency to insult religion. Moreover, Megawati is a Muslim.

“No offense meant, nothing. If abuse where? In my opinion, there is no other trend,” he said.

Precisely according to him, the context discussed by one of the nation’s leaders is his concern to be able to continue to reduce the stunting rate in the country.

“In my opinion, Mother (Megawati)’s goal is to overcome stunting. It is requested that the mothers can also prioritize their children, the main goal, “said FX Hadi Rudyatmo.

In line with this, Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) KH Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi also admitted that he continued to have good prejudice against Megawati’s speech.

“I have good prejudice (husnudzon) about what was said by Mrs. Megawati regarding her statement about women reciting recitations,” he said.

According to Kyai Zainut, the speech about the recitation mothers delivered by the Ketum PDIP was not at all related to the prohibition on recitation.

He explained that the speech was related to an appeal to mothers to be more proportional in managing their time, to take care of their home and their children.

“So the core of the message he conveyed was related to time management, not a ban on attending recitations,” explained the Deputy Minister of Religion.

This speech, added Kyai Zainut, had to be delivered because it was still related to the high stunting rate in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI Waketum), Marsudi Syuhud also explained that the statement by the Chairperson of PDIP Megawati cannot be swallowed whole, so the true interpretation lies with those concerned.

“If I look at it like this, that the purpose of people speaking in a statement or pronunciation is the person who discloses it, so if there are people who respond to the statement, maybe there is something right and maybe there is something wrong,” said Kyai Marsudi in an interview on a television station, Friday ( 24/2)

He also explained that people should carry out tabayyun or verify it so that they can find out their true intentions.

“For people who respond is something that is approximate, their own interpretation. That interpretation can be right or wrong. Therefore there is a context called tabayun,” he said.
