Jakarta – Ahead of the inauguration of the president and vice president on October 20, 2024, President-elect Prabowo Subianto is actively consolidating. Prabowo is approaching previous presidents, including the sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). Prabowo hosted SBY at his residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta.
Prabowo’s spokesman, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, stated that the meeting was held to listen to SBY’s input and Prabowo needed views ahead of the presidential inauguration.
“Regarding his duties and the challenges of his leadership for the next five years, considering the very dynamic geopolitical and geostrategic conditions ahead,” said Dahnil in Jakarta.
Responding to this, the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Democratic Party, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said that Prabowo and SBY would meet again in the near future.
“I don’t know exactly, but I think there will definitely be meetings in the near future between Mr. Prabowo and Mr. SBY,” said Riefky.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of MUI, KH. Marsudi Syuhud asked all parties to maintain national stability, harmony between each other, support the government transition and the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka program. This is important so that development can run smoothly so that it leads to increasing public welfare.
“All parties must support the programs that will be run by the elected President and Vice President. This support will ensure the continuation of development and progress of the nation,” Marsudi requested.
Similarly, former Governor of Bank Indonesia, Burhanuddin Abdullah said the strategic policies that Prabowo-Gibran will implement cover several important sectors, including increasing cooperation between the government and the private sector. This is expected to be able to overcome various problems currently faced by Indonesia, such as dependence on food, energy, and manufacturing imports, as well as human resource (HR) problems.
“The Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka government is capable of bringing Indonesia to a brighter and more prosperous future, and realizing the ideals of Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Burhanuddin.
In a separate location, the Executive Director of Survey and Polling Indonesia, Igor Dirgantara, said that the transition of government from President Joko Widodo to President-elect Prabowo Subianto was considered the smoothest in Indonesian history without any major political turmoil.
“Political stability is maintained because the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet will be filled by many professionals, around 40%, which is in line with the vision of the Zaken cabinet. And this transition is the best in the history of the Indonesian nation,” said Igor.
Igor added that a smooth transition of government could maintain political stability in Indonesia, especially since many figures who will assist the President-elect are also from professional circles.
“Of the several changes of government, this time it was the smoothest without any major political turmoil, unlike the previous government,” Igor emphasized.
Political observer of Bung Karno University, Faisyal Chaniago said all parties must support the transition of government so that there is no political turmoil and Indonesia can be stable in going through this period. Including the political elite, must also support the change of the baton of government.
“This transition period is important to prevent overlapping policies and ensure programs run smoothly until the new cabinet is formed, for the sake of sustainable development in Indonesia,” he concluded.
