STOP Mosque Politization

CIDISS. Until 2019, Indonesia is still facing a political year where starting in 2018 the simultaneous local election is held and the preparation of elections in 2019. This indicates that the political temperature this year will increase and certainly everyone / group of people do their own way to seize power.

The way to seize power is usually done in various ways, one of which is by conducting tausiah in a mosque by raising political issues. The politicization of the mosque contradicts the function of the mosque is a form of covert campaign that is not relevant to the function of the mosque itself. Thus, such politicization must be kept away from mosques.

Mosques that are dubbed as houses of worship for Muslims are often used as an aspect of channeling political aspirations and contributing to campaign activities in the form of tausiah which are cornering and influencing people in choosing certain candidate pairs. A number of Islamic voter-based party politicians consider nothing wrong with bringing political issues into the mosque. They postulate that as long as the political issues discussed in the mosque lead to the goodness of national and state life, it is legitimate to do so.

The use of mosques as a place for political chatter is carried out, it is feared that the mosque will instead turn into a particular party or group tool or mount. For this reason, awareness of all parties is needed that the mosque is a place of worship, not a place to politicize, because the government itself has provided a place for politics.

So that Muslims can play an active role in restoring the functions of the mosque according to Islamic law. Besides that, people are also expected not to be trapped in worldly life.
