Jakarta – The National Sports Conference and National Coordination Meeting of the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PB ESI) held at the Inter Continental Hotel Jakarta, Sunday (6/10), again appointed Police General (ret.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D., PSM as chairman for the 2024-2029 period.
In the event, the Expert Staff for Sports Culture of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ir. Hamka Hendra Noer, M.Si., said that his party greatly appreciated and was grateful for all the achievements of the Indonesian national esports team under the leadership of the Head of BIN.
“We express our deepest gratitude for the proud achievements made by the Indonesian national esports team under the management of PB ESI 2020-2024 led by Police General (Ret.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan,” he said.
Hamka Hendra hopes that the ESI national team’s achievements will continue under the leadership of Police General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan in the next period.
In the international arena at the 2022 international esports world championship in Bali, he added, Indonesia also emerged as the champion.
According to him, this is all evidence that the development of esports achievements through the management of PB ESI under the leadership of Police General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan has been successful.
“The 2020-2024 management period has gone well and deserves appreciation,” he added.
Likewise, Deputy General Chairperson 3 of KONI, Major General TNI (ret.) Andri Sutarno, also appreciated the achievements of PB ESI under the leadership of Budi Gunawan as the first general chairperson in the history of PB ESI.
“I express my highest appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Budi Gunawan and his staff, especially the first term of office of PB ESI, who have greatly advanced the history of esports in the country,” he said.
Furthermore, Deputy Chairperson 3 of KONI revealed that PB ESI under the leadership of the Head of BIN had made the 21st National Sports Week (PON) Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 a success, in a series of esports matches.
“The first time in the history of PON, it was carried out smoothly and well. Esports has succeeded in making history at the 21st PON Aceh-North Sumatra in 2024 as the largest PON competing in 65 sports and attended by 38 provinces,” he explained.
In his remarks, the elected General Chairperson of PB ESI for 2024-2029 and Head of BIN, Police General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan expressed his gratitude for the trust that had been given to return to lead the Indonesian esports organization.
Budi Gunawan also expressed his gratitude for the support, hard work, dedication, and extraordinary contribution to all levels and supporting parties in building the country’s esports ecosystem.
“Together, we have built an increasingly strong and competitive e-sports ecosystem, and in the future we will continue to strengthen it to bring the nation’s name to the peak of world glory, and make esports a national pride,” he concluded.
For information, all ESI Provincial Chairmen unanimously appointed Police General (Ret.) Budi Gunawan as Chair of PB ESI for the 2024-2029 period in the National Sports Conference and PB ESI National Coordination Meeting. The Chairperson of the National Sports Conference has also issued a decision to appoint Budi Gunawan as Chair of PB ESI for the 2024-2029 period.
