Jakarta – In order to realize an environmentally friendly energy transition, the Government continues to strive to optimize the use of electric vehicles at the 43rd ASEAN Summit or Summit.
Regarding this matter, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), represented by Woojune Cha as President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), has ceremonially handed over a fleet of 346 IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 units to the Secretary of the Ministry of State Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia, Setya Utama .

“This car will be used for the spouses of the leaders of the countries that are present. Second, for the foreign ministers of ASEAN countries. “Then for security forces such as Paspampres,” said Setya.
Setya continued that the government and the national committee have certain specifications needed regarding official vehicles that will be used at the summit, such as exterior and interior design and also comfort. Likewise, the quality of the battery is adjusted to durability and distance traveled.
“At the end of August, they will start shipping and will be tested by the Paspampres who will be responsible for driving the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6. They will be trained on the introduction of vehicle functions and driving experience for all officers who drive the unit during this event. “Of course it will then be sterilized for use at the summit,” he said.
The national committee, added Setya, will also prepare shuttle buses and integrated bus modes (MRT) as transportation facilities that connect accommodation places to event locations, the majority of which are in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area.
Previously, the government had also received around 36 BMW i7 electric cars. The vehicle is planned to be used by the leaders of the 43rd ASEAN Summit countries.
Minister of State Secretary, Tiketno stated that the Government appreciates the steps taken by the BMW Group to help realize the development of the regional electric vehicle ecosystem.
“I appreciate and am grateful for BMW’s commitment to re-engage and provide support for Indonesia’s 43rd ASEAN Chair which will be held in Jakarta later,” he said.
For information, the 43rd ASEAN Summit will be held in Jakarta on 5-7 September 2023. Not only will the leaders of Southeast Asian countries attend, the event will also be attended by a number of partner countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Australia and India.
