Bali – Indonesia invited a number of world heads of state and government to attend the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali on 18-25 May 2024. A number of supports from various elements emerged with optimism about WWF 2024’s sustainability message.
Udayana University academic, Efatha Filomeno Borromeu Duarte assesses that this is a breath of fresh air for Bali and for water management.
“My view as an academic is that I really support the implementation of WWF in Bali,” he said.
According to him, WWF is an effective forum for initiating concrete solutions regarding water management challenges faced by Indonesia and world governments.
“WWF has great hope for Indonesia and all interested stakeholders to ensure commitment to implementing tactical and effective policies in water management,” added Efatha.
Meanwhile, support came from a number of elements, one of which was the NGO element
The non-governmental organization, Indonesian Lower Community Movement (NGO GMBI), Pasuruan Regency, for example, expressed optimism about the success of WWF 2024.
Chairman of GMBI Pasuruan Regency Ahsari said that his party would fully support the meeting which would be attended by a number of countries. According to him, one form of support is to block parties who have the potential to hinder and disrupt the progress of the 10th WWF activities.
“We have prepared personnel who will guard the route to Bali,” said Ahsari.
The Nusantara Horse Shoe Community Organization (TKN) Probolinggo participated in making the 10th WWF in Bali a success. Even though they are in East Java, TKN does not hesitate to support the 10th WWF in Bali.
Public Relations of the TKN Probolinggo Public Organization Amik said that his party would stand firm to protect the event and was committed to maintaining the security and smooth running of the WWF event.
“We are ready to work with security forces and the local government to ensure the security and smooth running of the 10th World Water Forum activities,” said Amik.
Amik considers it important to support various efforts to maintain the environment and water resources that are clean and sustainable. Then, they called on the entire community to participate in preserving water, as an important asset for the lives of the people of the earth.
The WWF theme this time is “Water for Shared Prosperity” where there are three discussions consisting of three topics, namely thematic, political and regional.
This forum will present 290 sessions or parallel events discussing various important themes related to water, namely water security and prosperity; water for humans and nature; disaster risk reduction and mitigation; water governance, cooperation, and diplomacy; sustainable water funding, and knowledge and innovation.
