Jakarta — The government has set social programs as a top priority in the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN). Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati revealed that next year’s budget policy is directed at directly addressing the needs of the community, especially through President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship programs that target strengthening human resources and the health sector.
“What we reported earlier was a discussion starting from macro assumptions, then priority programs from the President, starting from free nutritious food, People’s Schools, Red and White cooperatives, free health checks, school repairs, to various presidential instructions on roads and food security infrastructure,” said Sri Mulyani at the State Palace, Jakarta.
According to Sri Mulyani, social programs such as free nutritious food and free health check-ups are two of a number of strategic programs that are considered to have a direct impact on community welfare.
“This effort is part of the government’s broader vision of building a strong, healthy, and productive foundation for Indonesia’s human resources,” he explained.
The government also ensures that the implementation of the program will be supported by proportional and sustainable budget allocation.
“We have reported all of this so we can get direction from the President on whether the priorities are appropriate for finalization,” he added.
Furthermore, Sri Mulyani stated that her party is currently preparing the Financial Note and the 2026 State Budget Bill. These important documents will be submitted directly by President Prabowo Subianto to the House of Representatives (DPR) on August 15, 2025.
“We reported to the President regarding the preparation and completion of the Financial Note and the 2026 Draft State Budget. The President plans to submit these to the House of Representatives on August 15,” he said.
He added that various main points and macro assumptions of the 2026 Draft State Budget had been submitted to the President to obtain final direction on sharpening budget priorities.
“The government’s focus is not only on the effectiveness of state spending, but also on long-term fiscal sustainability,” he concluded.
With an approach that prioritizes community involvement through concrete programs, the 2026 State Budget is expected to be a key instrument in strengthening the quality of life for the people and accelerating equitable national development. ()
