The distribution of Family Hope Program (PKH) and basic food aid has been accelerated, and the 2026 Ramadan Double Social Assistance Program has begun to be rolled out

Jakarta – The government has demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting vulnerable communities by accelerating the distribution of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Basic Food Assistance in the first quarter of 2026. This dual social assistance policy ahead of Ramadan is concrete evidence of the government’s commitment to ensuring that the basic needs of millions of families are met in a timely and targeted manner.

Through the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), aid distribution is being carried out on a massive scale and in coordination with the support of the Indonesian Sharia Bank (Himbara) and Bank Syariah Indonesia. Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf emphasized that this acceleration is a directive to strengthen community resilience ahead of Ramadan. “The state must be present faster and more precisely. Therefore, we are expediting the distribution of social assistance in the first quarter so that the benefits are immediately felt by the community before Ramadan,” he said.

By the end of February 2026, disbursement had exceeded 85 percent, with a total budget exceeding IDR 15 trillion. For the Family Hope Program (PKH), assistance had reached approximately 8.9 million beneficiary families (KPM), with a value exceeding IDR 6 trillion. Meanwhile, staple food assistance had reached more than 15 million KPM, totaling over IDR 9 trillion. “This achievement demonstrates the solid collaborative work between the central and regional governments, and distribution partners,” he added.

In 2026, the Family Hope Program (PKH) will target 10 million beneficiary families (KPM), and staple food assistance will be allocated to 18.25 million beneficiaries across Indonesia. The government aims to complete all regular assistance for the first quarter before the end of February. “We are optimistic that all distributions for this phase will be completed on time so that people can experience Ramadan with greater peace of mind,” Saifullah Yusuf emphasized.

The Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) is also continuously updated to ensure targeting accuracy. The addition of new beneficiaries is part of the commitment to data updates to ensure more precise and inclusive assistance. The process of opening collective accounts and distributing cards is carried out systematically, including through PT Pos Indonesia for areas without banking services. “We ensure that no eligible family is left out of the social protection system,” he said.

In addition to regular aid, the government is also providing support to disaster victims in several regions through an adaptive assistance scheme worth over IDR 2 trillion. This support includes logistics, compensation, living expenses, and housing assistance. “Social protection must not stop at routine assistance; it must be adaptive to emergency situations,” he said.

Synergy between the central and regional governments also strengthens distribution transparency by publishing recipient lists at village and sub-district offices. This step reinforces the commitment to open and accountable governance. With a measurable strategy and solid collaboration, the 2026 Ramadan double social assistance program is expected to truly provide an effective social cushion for those in need.
