Jakarta – The government has reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging all elements of the nation to actively participate in the success of the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG). Entering the November 2025 reporting period, this national priority program has shown significant progress, both in terms of beneficiary coverage and strengthening the supporting ecosystem at the central and regional levels.
According to an official government report as of November 2025, the MBG program is targeted to reach 82.9 million recipients. In various regions, the program’s implementation has also shown positive progress. In Central Java, for example, more than 6.3 million beneficiaries have been covered by MBG services through a coordinated distribution mechanism between local governments, schools, and nutrition service units. This progress also underscores the government’s capacity to build increasingly integrated governance for healthy food distribution.
Coordinating Minister for Food, Zulkifli Hasan stated that MBG is not just an aid program, but a major strategy to strengthen the foundations of the people’s economy.
“This program isn’t just about providing nutritious food, but also about building a stronger people-centered economic ecosystem, involving all actors in the supply chain from upstream to downstream. The impact isn’t just on the health of recipients, but also on the local economy,” he said.
In addition to targeting the nutritional needs of children and vulnerable groups, the government ensures that the MBG serves as a driver of the community economy through the utilization of local food ingredients. Cross-sectoral synergy, from farmers, fishermen, livestock breeders, to MSMEs, is integral to ensuring a high-quality, stable, and sustainable supply of raw materials.
Similarly, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto previously emphasized that the MBG is a long-term investment for the nation’s future. He emphasized that developing the quality of human resources is the government’s top priority.
“This is not a short-term program. The MBG is a major investment in preparing a healthier, smarter, and more competitive generation. When the village economy grows thanks to this program, we will see the benefits of working from the ground up,” the President emphasized.
The government invites all ministries, local governments, businesses, educational institutions, and community groups to maintain synergy in program implementation. Through collaboration and active participation, the MBG is expected to become a strong pillar in accelerating improvements in the quality of life for the community while strengthening the foundation of the national economy.
