Jakarta – The government continues to strengthen its commitment to providing decent housing for low-income communities through the implementation of the second phase of mass subsidized housing contracts, which will be held on December 18, 2025. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, confirmed that this year’s implementation will be a new milestone because the number of contracts is much larger than before.
Maruarar emphasized that the government is preparing for a monumental achievement in the national housing program.
“This December, on the 18th, we will break another record: 50,000 people will be the largest mass wedding in history,” he said.
He said that this activity was concrete evidence of the acceleration of housing financing access services for low-income communities.
The culminating event of this mass akad will be held symbolically in Serang, Banten, and is scheduled to be attended in person by President Prabowo Subianto. The President’s presence will emphasize that the housing sector is a top priority for the government, as it directly relates to public welfare and strengthening the foundations of the national economy.
Previously, in September 2025, President Prabowo handed over house keys to FLPP mortgage recipients at the Pesona Kahuripan 10 Housing Complex in Cileungsi, Bogor. The event also coincided with mass mortgage contracts for 26,000 mortgages across various regions. For this achievement, the President commended Maruarar’s performance.
“The promise (of Maruarar) was 25,000, but the result was 26,000. This is somewhat anomalous, a bit odd in Indonesian culture. In Indonesia, sky-high promises are usually not delivered,” Prabowo said.
On numerous occasions, Prabowo emphasized that public housing development is not just about providing housing, but also has a broad economic impact. “Housing can and always has been a driver of economic growth and economic development. That’s why we set a very high target of 3 million homes. That target is always high, and we must pursue it and achieve it,” he emphasized.
The President acknowledged that the target of 3 million homes is a significant challenge. However, he is optimistic that the government can achieve it through the consistent and structured acceleration of the public housing program. The implementation of the second phase of mass contracts, targeting 50,000 homes, demonstrates the government’s swift, responsive action, and focus on meeting the people’s basic need for decent and affordable housing.
