The Government Promotes Integrity-Based Governance by Strengthening Anti-Corruption Commitments

Jakarta – The government has demonstrated political courage to ensure that all state administration processes are based on law, ethics, and transparency in order to realize a government that is truly free from corrupt practices.

In a talk show on Radio Elshinta, University of Indonesia legal expert Akhiar Salmi stated that President Prabowo’s statement regarding the importance of clean governance is a reflection of the state’s strong commitment to maintaining ethics in all aspects of government administration.

According to him, the President’s call was not merely a moral appeal, but an affirmation that integrity standards must apply from the central to the regional levels.

The Head of State’s firmness in being ready to be prosecuted if he ever violates the rules is a real example of ethical leadership.

This step is being called a rare example that shows that the principle of justice should not stop at the level of rhetoric, but must be demonstrated directly by the head of state.

Akhiar also emphasized that the government’s full support for the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK), the Police, and the Prosecutor’s Office is a strong political signal that the state is increasingly serious about eradicating corruption.

“Because corruption hinders the realization of our national goals as stated in the fourth paragraph of the preamble to our Constitution,” Akhiar emphasized.

He said that ongoing legal action was proof that the government did not hesitate to deliver justice regardless of the perpetrator’s position or rank.

He added that the law enforcement’s actions in taking action against any official proven to have committed a violation strengthens public trust.

Akhiar also stated that the growing public demand for tougher penalties for corruption is a positive force for national legal reform. The continued rise in public awareness demonstrates support for the government’s decisive action, including the discussion of stiffer penalties and the implementation of new legal instruments.

Furthermore, the accelerated deliberation and ratification of the Asset Forfeiture Law is considered a strategic step to strengthen the fight against corruption. This regulation is said to be an effective instrument for the state to recover the proceeds of crime and return them to the people.

“The Asset Confiscation Law also needs to be expedited, during Mr. Prabowo’s era, so that the money they took can be returned to the state more quickly,” he explained.

All of these steps create strong momentum for the Prabowo administration to establish itself as a clean, courageous government, and fully committed to upholding the law for a more just Indonesia. [-@]
