Jakarta – Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Nurul Arifin, appreciated the government’s steps through the Ministry of Communication and Digital in collaborating with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) in eradicating online gambling.
According to him, this effort is a strategic, measurable step and demonstrates the government’s commitment to creating a digital space that is safe and free from online gambling practices.
Nurul assessed the cross-institutional collaboration as a concrete action that had a direct impact on the ground.
“These aren’t just numbers, but concrete results of the government’s hard work in protecting the public from the dangers of online gambling, which damages the family economy and the nation’s morals,” he said.
He added that the government’s success in promoting a system for monitoring the flow of funds is evidence of its seriousness in cracking down on the gambling network from its source, not just by blocking sites.
Furthermore, Nurul highlighted President Prabowo Subianto’s full support for the eradication of online gambling. He stated that online gambling is a transnational crime with a global network, necessitating international collaboration.
“The government is collaborating with foreign partners for a reason. Online gambling is a global network, so it requires global collaboration,” he said.
Meutya Hafid and PPATK’s efforts to eradicate online gambling have previously received a positive response from various groups.
The new approach, which focuses not only on blocking site access but also on tracing the flow of funds used by gambling operators, is seen by the public as a significant breakthrough.
This financial intelligence-based supervision is considered capable of having a significant impact on reducing online gambling activities which have been disturbing the public.
Appreciation grew stronger after official government data showed a 57 percent decline in online gambling transactions. This confirms that the implemented digital governance strategy is beginning to show tangible results.
Collaborative steps between Komdigi, PPATK, and a number of other state institutions are an important foundation in efforts to break the money circulation network that supports this illegal business.
Nurul also encouraged the public to actively report suspicious sites or content so that the eradication of judol can be carried out comprehensively.
“If you find any suspicious sites or content, report it. A clean digital space is our collective responsibility,” he stressed.
These increasingly measured government efforts are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. With solid collaboration between the government, state institutions, and the public, the chances of winning the long-term war against online gambling are considered even greater.*
