The Job Creation Law accommodates input from various parties

By: Martono Septian *)

The Job Creation Law (UU) which has been passed by the government is an important effort to improve the welfare of society, especially for workers and laborers in Indonesia. This law was not only born from the government’s wishes, but was also the result of input provided by various parties, including workers, labor unions, employers and the wider community. The government carefully considers every input and criticism to ensure that this regulation can provide maximum benefits for all parties, especially workers or laborers.

The main benefit of the Job Creation Law for workers is that it opens up wider job opportunities. With the ease of investment provided by this law, more and more new companies will be established and will need workers. This condition will of course increase job opportunities, reduce unemployment rates, and provide opportunities for workers to get better jobs. Apart from that, with the improvement in the investment climate, existing companies will also be encouraged to expand their businesses, which in turn will create more jobs.

To provide a more detailed and easy-to-understand understanding of the implementation of the Job Creation Law, the Task Force for the Acceleration of Socialization of the Job Creation Law published a book with the theme “Policy Transformation and Reform through the Job Creation Law”, involving various parties from diverse backgrounds. Starting from experts, government representatives, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, trade unions, to the media in a focused discussion series (FGD).

Arif Budimanta, who serves as Secretary of the Job Creation Law Task Force, revealed that the book will provide an understanding of the background to the preparation and objectives of the Job Creation Law which was carried out for structural changes to create a new bureaucracy, especially in the fields of public services, licensing and providing access. which is more equal for small and micro business actors.

The Job Creation Law emphasizes equal rights as regulated in Article 2, which includes aspects of legal certainty, ease of doing business, togetherness, as well as efforts to encourage national economic independence. And according to the President’s direction, the Job Creation Law does not only focus on changing regulations, but also on changing behavior, especially in the bureaucracy.

Arif Budimanta also hopes that the book “Policy Transformation and Reform through the Job Creation Law” can show significant changes in the way the bureaucracy works before and after the implementation of the Job Creation Law, as well as encouraging further massive socialization in various regions through collaboration between the task force and the central and regional governments. .

Chair of the Working Group on Strategy and Socialization of the Job Creation Law, Dimas Oky Nugroho, explained that the book “Policy Transformation and Reform through the Job Creation Law” will be an important reference in socialization activities, both for ministries, institutions, regional governments, academics, the business community, MSMEs, and wide community. Although initially there was strong criticism from the public, the government responded well through various outreach activities, discussions, coordination meetings, and coaching clinics involving the community and related stakeholders .

It is important to remember that the Job Creation Law not only benefits employers, but also provides significant benefits for workers and laborers. With more flexible regulations, companies can more easily adapt to economic changes, which means companies will be better able to retain workers amidst difficult economic conditions. This is a form of government concern to ensure job stability and avoid mass layoffs that could occur if companies experience difficulties.

Director of Investment Deregulation at the Ministry of Investment, Dendy Apriandi, highlighted the importance of simplifying regulations in the bureaucracy through the Omnibus Law method, as implemented in the Job Creation Law. This Job Creation Law must be a good legacy because the challenges in creating it are very large.

The Job Creation Law also supports the creation of more harmonious industrial relations between workers and employers. Through more open and constructive social dialogue, any problems that arise in the work environment can be resolved in a better way that does not harm both parties. A good relationship between workers and employers is very important to create a conducive working climate, which will ultimately have a positive impact on company productivity and worker welfare.

The Job Creation Law also provides better protection for workers. The government has ensured that workers’ basic rights are guaranteed, such as minimum wages, social security, and protection from unlawful termination of employment (PHK). In addition, this law encourages skills improvement through more structured job training programs. With better skills, workers will have a higher competitiveness in the job market.

Therefore, implementing the Job Creation Law in all sectors covered by it is the right step to ensure a better future for the Indonesian economy. With support from all elements of society, the Job Creation Law can run effectively and have a real positive impact on improving community welfare.
